any one going to 2/16 and 2/17 t-hill with Zoom zoom?

I have to agree with everyone, that was an awesome weekend. Weather couldn't have been better, the groups were pretty small -- I only remember one small traffic jam in B-group on Saturday -- and everything went very smoothly. Another first-class weekend from Zoom-Zoom!

Loved the 2.0 class. :teeth
Perfect intro to the track atmosphere and some skills work on my own bike instead of the MSF 250's. :thumbup

Day was gorgeous and the Zoom Zoom staff were amazing. Loved meeting so many new people and the BBQ was a blast. I cannot wait for my novice day in May.

Extra special thanks to Steve (Ratters) for hauling me and my bike up there, chilling me out, and introducing me to so many great folks...all while missing the track so much. :hail:love:hail Heal fast!!

I'll be writing up my review later this afternoon when real life (work) calms down.

What more can I say about a great weekend. Saturday was completely sold out and there were very few track incidents. The medical crew remained completely bored as they never got a single call.

The new grills helped to bring the BBQ to the next level and it was great to see so many returning faces, as well as a lot of new ones.

Thanks again for a great season opener and congratulations to the new Licensed Racers!

Great weekend for me both developmentally and personally. I started my track day addiction with Z2 and culminated it with passing my NRS on Sunday. It may not seem like much but given the fact that I was in an motorcyle accident last September that broke both my legs, an arm, ruptured my spleen, bladder and hyper-flexed my pelvis it served as a motivation to get back in the saddle and continue my persuit of racing in 08' albeit 4 months later. I have now reached another milestone in achieving that goal. :cool

Thanks to David and the Z2 instructor staff for making the straffing session one the most fun times I've had yet at the track. Our NRS class was three people but only two of us ended up riding. David went out with the other student before I or any other instructors got to the the grid. When I rolled into the hot pit I was looking at 6-8 orange vested instructors, one which pointed to me then turned and nodded to the others whom all revved there bikes to life with unatural zeal. I imagine the same look the lions at the zoo get when feeding time arrives. I swear I could see toothy grins of delight through their tinted face shields. Don't crash, be fast and predictable...game on! Holy swarm of bees batman! It took me three laps to catch the other student where I hoped half of the pack would split of and persue other prey.:laughing

Invaluable experience for a rookie racer, thank you Mr. Sickle and Mr. Frost for the postive reinforcement and instruction and the other instructors as well. Seeing the stitching details on your leathers as you went by made me appreciate the quality of the various other suit manufacturers. I'm off to get my AFM packet Notorized and to make an appointment with Bud Anderson to have my bike race prep'd, thanks again everyone.:thumbup

Props-
Craig Sanders my assigned AFM mentor who has been helping me in my preparation efforts since last year with invaluable knowledge and on track guidance Saturday (If you're new this year I highly recommend the mentor program). The Z2 organization and staff, quality product top to bottom. Shawn and Vic definitely the funniest rider meetings. David for fitting an hours worth of content into thirty minutes while eating lunch and ensuring his "special" class was successful. Ken Hill for towing me through two corners (caught in his jet wash). Tazman and tech staff for tech procedure enlightment (we didn't ask a lot of question because it was explained so well). My pit crew Nina who was tire wench and kept my bike and spirits fueled all weekend. Brian at motoshoes for the awesome Pirelli's, pricing and valve stem cap. Mother nature for sunny weather great temperatures and no wind both days. Blaise for racer insights and getting my rear wheel and those damn Kawi spacers remounted. Joe at for 4 theRiders.com for just being a cool guy and putting my slow-ass on the cover (those Commodos are photogenic though), you rock. Todd (NRS student) whom experienced mechanical failure but still completed the NRS curriculum except for rider evaluation and race starts, great attitude and good luck. Lastly, the motorcycle gods for smiling favorably on and rewarding my efforts.

Slops-
Race start stall, forgeting to flail arms frantically and being the last one to cross the finish line. Loading up to go home.

Yup, fantastic weekend! Could not have asked for anything more.
Cheers:
*Craig Sanders for his bottomless wealth of knowlege and experience bundled in a friendly smiling face.
*Quinn for playing the rabbit - can't wait to have you pull me around again - YeeHaaw!
*Ken Hill for tiny little pointers that make a huge difference (and for not touching my bike)
*Kazam for the great cat and mouse game on my last session. You got me shifting through the bike...:wow...I think I was yelling "woooHooo!" under the bridge into 14.
*Troy, for all his support and for appointing me "tire wench". :cool . Big time congrats on the racing license! Well done!
*All the ZoomZoom staff and service providers. Top notch as usual :teeth
*My little bike, The Pequod, for being "friendly" and not embarrassing me in some spectacular fashion.

Jeers:
*Turn 9 roller derby participants. I'm glad I let you have the track...any closer, I would have been picking dirt and gravel out of my ride. What was that about? On the other hand...it was a good show and no one got hurt!
*The noisy neighbors boinking in the next hotel room. :rolleyes You kept me up all night...I don't even want to imagine what you two might look like. Ewwwwwww!

holy price cut, batman! that's a LONG way to go fast! any one special thing "click" to make such progress?

You know, I wish I could just pinpoint one thing that really clicked as I've been searching for that "one piece of advice" to improve my times for the past year after being stuck at 2:18's forever. Every time I'd go out with an instructor they always had great things to say...good body positioning, good lines, smooth, etc etc, but maybe I just wasn't "opening the facking throttle, poosey." Of course there is never just one thing you can do and this weekend EVERYTHING just clicked for me, maybe I'm a late bloomer or it was just my time to grow. I was in disbelief everytime I came back in and checked my lap timer. I was always sure that I was just putting around out there but they turned out to be faster and faster throughout the weekend. It's like they say, smooth is fast and it's the truth!

I think I also took a hard look at where I was losing time. Turns 7,8 have always been slow for me as I've always been timid there, they are fast corners and I still have some of that fear. Cleaning up my lines through 14,15helped as well to get a better drive on to the straight and finally, turn 1 has always scared me, but I watched my exit speeds go from 80 to 100+ and I think I've finally become comfortable with that one. I was grinning from ear to ear all weekend and the instructors at ZoomZoom had a HUGE part in that, thanks a ton guys! :thumbup

Great weekend for me both developmentally and personally.

actually...uploading NOW. :D takes about ~15 mins to upload all ~3400 pics from sunday

TOTALLY wasn't my fault! //runs away

As long as I caught it at a great event it's all good. Plus it gave me an opportunity to stay home and not have to 'splain why I'm so damn red (Didn't think about sun screen --dooh) :p

Hey Joe(and Toe!), thanks for all the pics! Too bad my riding wasn't as good as your photography :( Gotta get used to this new bike

It's the poor craftsman who blames his tools. :hand

:twofinger

Well for the record I'm not blaming anything, just saying I need some work. Watch out when I sort it all out though......................:cool

Suspension is setup completely opposite of what I'm used too but I think it's better to learn to ride a bike that you're not used to rather than just stick with what you already know :)
