I have a couple of questions/ concerns about this. I really would like to come but I have to say, based on some of the posts here, I am kind of leaning towards staying home.
1. I agree that a big ass jam session like this should be about rotating people out. If there are six people wanting to play the bass and one person plays the whole time, ghow is that fun for the rest of us? Likewise, how is having 8 guitarists and six bassists playing at the same time going to be fun?
2. I have to admit this whole "Jeff, Andy, me and..... need to get together and practice" thing is a bit of a turnoff. What this implies is that you guys are going to work out a few songs and performs them. Once again, how is this fun for anyone but the four of you? This quickly turns from in open jam into a place where the four of you play the songs you have rehearsed. Once again, not so much fun for those of us not INCLUDED in your group. Now trhis is all good and fine, but if you are stating it is an open BARF jam, why be so exclusive. If you want to jam with the other three, go for it. If it is to prepare for this jam, well that's just ridiculous.
That said, I can bring a GK bass amp and 2X10 cabinet. But at this point, I am inclined to find something else to do than attend a BARF open jam where we have five bassists standing around watching the sixth rock out all night long. I think I have some knitting to do or something.
No offense meant, I am just making an observation.
