BARF Militia

seriously, the more i know, the more i love glocks,

they come with the best barrels, and are reliable as all fuck, and sidearms are exactly that, sidearms, you should get a good rifle, and have a handgun that will work when the shit hits the fan, not one thats pretty and gots a nice trigger.

in fact, if you learn to shoot a glocks trigger, its WAY faster than anything out there cept a 1911

1911's are still king though and kick sig and hk ass LOL, but i just dont bet my life on them compared to glock

I think I may have a problem. :p
I started with picking up an m44 from Big 5 just to have fun at the range with. Then I got a Yugo sks for pretty much the same reason. Then I rediscovered the CMP program and ordered an M1 Garand. And just this past weekend I was at Big 5 again and found a Swiss K31 in decent shape.
And these are only the old rifles.

I am sooo lucky the wife doesn't know the combo to the safe :laughing

If by 1911 you mean that German 1911 with a double-stack..only then is a 1911 superior to Hk/SIG, but all this other garbage we have here, I think I'll pass.

And next you'll quote some match and how some custom $2000 match 1911 can poke five holes in a dime whereas the USP Expert can only poke five holes in a quarter :rolleyes

Handgun...thanks.

Troy, I have intriduced a LOT of women to handgun shooting and I have to tell you that the whoel Start on a .22 thing is usually not well recieved in my experience. Quite frankly a .22 does not give you a proper feel for what firing a weapon is like. .22 is a target round and it feels like one.

I would suggest something like a Smith & Wesson Model 67

.38 Special is a tried and true defense round that won't intimidate as much as the bucking bronco of a .45ACP in a poly-frame compact. Women also often appreciate the classic lines of a police service style revolver as a weapon of defense that they feel like they can trust. Not to mention that a revolver is easier for a beginning shooter to clean and maintain after shooting.

i knew you were going to respond to that statement

and yes 1911's are king, and no im not going to talk about some expensive ass 1911. im not talking about accuracy, becuase all modern handguns are more accurate than humans are..

it has been hitting me that sig's BEST handgun is a 1911 clone, but they are having huge problems getting it to function reliably, when i shot a sig 45, not the 1911,. i noticed it was single stack and very similar to a 1911, in a way a wannabe 1911 with a VERY trigger for something thats not a glock.

the new hk45 thats coming out is also going to be single stack, ie more like a 1911, to put it simply, for the .45caliber, the 1911 is the best, since they were pretty much designed for eachother, the hks are ok, but HUGE if you noticed, the mk21 is a freaking cannon,. at least the plastic guns got polygonal rifling, ill admit thats the best.

i dont like german anything. german engineering is this: take a problem, find the most complex way of solving it , in turn making it the least reliable, and charge the most for it and stress its "technological advancement" ,,,,,, its a fucking gun, theres no real need for it to be high tech, the muching m2 was design is HELLA old, but its still the best for the .50BMG round hands down. and the 1911 is the best for the .45 rnd. i think para's are not american, and are double stack, i like them, too bad we cant get highcaps

that doesnt mean 1911's are great for other rounds, i hear many 1911's dont last long in 10MM due to the frame cracking,. i stress that i HEARD about that problem, never seen it before. . every gun has its problems. HK's are known to have their firing pins crack after like 30k rounds or something. the 1911's common Weak spot are the slide stops when they are not made of forged steel, or by putting too strong opf a recoil spring in them. glocks and HK are known for their frames breaking then using ++p rounds too much , ok i could go on forever with every gun. so im going to stop it here

That's an important point, too. Because after the shooting's done, someone's gotta do the clean-up, and it better be the woman! They appreciate it when you show consideration by letting them clean out the easy revolvers.

But then again, a Glock is even easier to clean! And women love Tupperware, so it's like a match made in heaven.

But back to a more serious note, like Eldritch said, I've had good luck teaching n00bs how to shoot with .38's, and also this 10-shot .22 revolver (S&W 617):

They're Canadian :wow

I wouldn't mind a bare bones 1911, something like a milspec Colt or stainless Springfield, something under $600. It's gotta be American though.

A lot of German things are very well made, you may think differently, but the entire world agrees. Walthers, HKs, SIG/Sauers, it's all good. At the same time, it should be said that Beretta makes great weapons (and has been making them since the 1400s), and I hear the Brazilian Taurus models are pretty damn good, as well. Let's just admit to each other that mankind collectively makes great and effective weapons! Pretty much anything you buy these days is going to be more accurate than the average shooter, and reliable to boot...Ruger P89 to Springfield XD-40 to SW5096 to CZ75 to 92FS to USP to BHP to P14-45 to some Les Baer custom. It's like an HJC vs a Suomi. Same job, different features, different preferences :p :thumbup

I bought the k31 at Big5, pick it up next week.

Traders always has something on sale, don't update their web page for shit though. Also have found that they advertise stuff on sale that they are out of stock, and won't do rain checks.

Still, Traders is only a couple of miles from my work so I might have to swing by at lunch one day this week.

I've always liked the look of that V12, too bad I'm working on some other things right now.

Hey, Christmas is coming, and PTP transfers are exempt from the 30-day rule! ;)
