The Glock one is funky, because Glocks don't have grip panels to replace. So it's this funky thing that attaches to the back of the grip.

Anyway, what are the chances that you'll actually get one of these doohickeys?

I'd say 70/30 in favor. I want a laser and have been in the market for about a month, but I tend to be stingy about these sort of things and usually won't drop the cash on one unless I see one that I fall in love with or is a great deal. Form factor is very important to me though. I worry about catching an accessory on something or breaking it off, not to mention weight gain at the muzzle.

I've not heard too many good things about the lasermax. i don't have one but from what i understand, they're not adjustable whereas the crimson trace are.

anyone want to trade a 9mm Sig P226 for a P239 SAS?
(i have the 226)

I'll keep it in mind.

I know it's not a gun, but it does carry six of them and I figure you guys would be the ones to appreciate it.

Susan woke me up EARLY to go watch her brother take off in the P51 to head up to the races at Reno. I had a vid taken of the take off but it was too large to upload to youtube. I did take a vid of his flyby though. Sorry it's a tad shaky, I was using my Canon Elph. The sound is the important thing anyhow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JneegKYf198

Here's a pic of the plane:

Sweet plane, but that's kinda too bad that it's painted with Jelly Bellys.

Yeah, but it costs a pretty penny to run that thing, let alone insure it, and it helps out with the running it at the races every year. They've actually kinda grown on me. :)

When you go to a gun show on your bike. Remember, a case of 7.62 is fucking heavy, so don't be very far from home and put in your backpack.

The case of 40 cal seemed lighter a few days ago:teeth

So, what's the big draw about those things?

I've never looked into them, but I've heard a lot of people talk them up.

Why are we stuck buying stripped receivers and building them up ourselves? There are several manufacturers, companies, and FFLs that all are confident that an OLL properly configured meets the rules. I noticed ddsranch carries century arms AKs as well as ITM stripped receivers. Why not charge an extra $50 and pull off the PG? Or, a gunsmith could make a killing right now building them for people at like $250 a pop. I really want an AK...

Well, because when it started, no one was really sure if they could get away with buying and importing them. There are a few places selling sealed-magazine 10-round AR's and such, but when the fever started, it was easier to buy bare lowers that were definitely NOT assault weapons, and then building them up in compliance with the "evil parts" law.

Anyone could now start a business building complete OLL rifles, either with a fixed mag, or without the grip, and have a good thing going until the list gets updated.

I am interested in returning to target shooting sometime in the near future. My ex has a .22 colt that I loved to shoot. It's not 1911 style but is semi auto. Anyone have any recommendations on a .22 that they like? I currently own (but don't shoot very often) a .357 (I shoot .38s though) and while I like it for home defense, it's a little too heavy for everyday use (so to speak).

Thanks, Susan

There's a ton of good .22's out there. If you like revolvers, there's the S&W 617 in solid steel, or the 317 in aluminum.

If you like semi-automatics, a Browning Buckmark or Ruger are the standard choices.

I have one each of the S&W 317, 617, and Browning Buckmark, and you're welcome to try them out if you happen to be in the bay area. We could muster up a few others if we make an event out of it.

OMG - I had forgotten how expensive nice weapons can be. My ex said he would sell me the Colt (which he bought used for $350) for $250. I'm thinking that might be the best bet for me. I know the gun, it's reliable and it's a great price. Best part (for me, at least) ammo is cheap.

Thanks for the links. My .357 is a Taurus revolver and it was definitely a good gun to start with. My ex bought a .45 Kimber right around the same time I bought my Taurus and I could not get the Kimber's slide to come back when it was brand new. I didn't think I could pass the safety inspection on a semi so went with a revolver for the first gun.

I haven't been to the gun room in a while but if anyone is planning a group ride to Elk Grove some weekend, please advise and I'd love to join you.

Susan

Yep, the prices can get pretty crazy. California's not making it any better with their wacko "safe handgun" laws that only prevent additional models from being imported.

$250 sounds like a good price for the Colt. I like cheap .22's too, and shoot them more than any of my other guns. :teeth

Went out an shot the bushmaster today for the first time.

Put about 90 rnds through it in about 20 mintues and all I can say is SWEET!!!

This is a nice shooting gun and the sights were pretty much right on straight out of the box. I was hitting beer cans at 50yrds almost every shot.

Will take it out again when I have more time, but one thing I need to do is get a bipod for it.
