Jesus, RIP to the officer. :(

We shouldn't have weaklings out there on the street to protect us. Should of kept her back at the office to deal with the female prisoners.

Yep, the day they dropped the physical requirements to be an officer was the day it all went south. An 8-month pregnant, 24-year old girl trying to physically arrest a 44-year old, 6' rapist? Recipe for disaster.

"Surveillance video showed him grabbing her service revolver, a .40-caliber Glock, and shooting her 15 times in the head and body."

I didn't know GLOCK made high-capacity revolvers! :laughing

Shoot first, questions after...

Looks like Hillary might be the Dem's choice in November. Glad I got all the rifles I want on the HR1022 ban list. How 'bout you? :D

No guns - yet! But here's my folding knife collection that is sure to be rediculed by Scorp :laughing

Ruger No. 1 45-70 Govt.

I've never owned a true "long gun" before. A very long time ago, when the infamous ban was first announced, I came close to purchasing a Galil. I ended up with the Uzi instead, and that is the "longest" gun I own.

Recently, I have been intrigued by the old classic Martini-Henry single shots, in the .45 Boxer-Henry. I would think the "modern" equivalent would be something like the Ruger No. 1 in .45-70 Govt. Obviously this is just a toy, and will just be used for fun shooting at the range using open sights.

Does anybody have experience and/or opinions on this rifle and/or cartridge?

Thanks.

The Ruger No. 1 is a hunting gun, designed to be packed through the woods and shot very infrequently - just once per animal. It is very small and light, which means it doesn't soak up recoil very well.

If you want a good single-shot in .45-70 that'll be fun to shoot at the range, check out http://www.shilohrifle.com/ or any of the Italian clones from Uberti, Navy Arms, etc.
