Sweet blades, people. Clearly I need to do some more research on the assisted-openers.
I have a waved Endura 4 as my designated beater, and it's got battle scars (chopping through thin-gauge steel tabs, yay) that an hour with a DMT coarse benchstone didn't entirely cure.
I think it makes an awesome general purpose knife -- wave for easy deployment, light yet sufficiently sturdy, inexpensive, VG-10, four-position clip (righty, lefty, tip-up or tip-down). The FRN scale material is cheap and cheap-feeling compared the magnificence that is G10, but it's grippy and tough and helps keep the cost down. Very practical.
If you want to borrow mine, I'll drag my ass down to a SF Wednesday meet which I've been meaning to do for half a year now.
I think my default recommendation would be for the Delica/Endura family or the Griptilian family as good-yet-inexpensive practical blades.
