Shooting on a dark course, it worked great. Just need to work on getting used the sights. Shot slugs a little lower at 50 yards. Should've shot it the 5 months it was sitting in my safe.:|
 
anyone know where to get .17HMR for cheap? usually order from midway usa when i get a whole bunch of stuff but not worth it when just getting ammo + shipping. .17hmr at Big5 is 17.99 !!! >_<

I'll be shooting at Targetmasters late-ish tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8:30 PM or so) with Termagant, if anyone wants to shoot...prolly bringing the little Kahr PM9, the Sig P6, and the CZ SP-01.
 
Speaking of Targetmasters, has anyone here had any problems getting special order guns from them? I placed an order for a Sig on August 21st, and they keep giving me the runaround. Everytime they keep telling me it'll be here on ______ (usually 3 days from when I call), for almost a full month. :(

Then I have to wait for DROS period. :( X 2

Never purchased anything other than ammo from them. What kind of Sig is it? I'd say if it doesn't come in by the end of the week, cancel the order and buy it at Irvington Arms. They can usually get anything within 3 days (real 3 days).

Yes but they are $$$ as hell...about 1K for the m1 carbine, and around 6-700ish for the sks but it is nice to go and fondle them

226R in 9mm. The only problem is Targetmasters has a 25% restocking fee policy on canceled special orders. I'm going to talk to the manager soon and see if they would refund it, seeing as it hasn't come in and nobody seems to know if the order has even been placed yet.
 
Went to Reno for the races, was tired, stopped at Boomtown Hotel (mile marker 4), discovered theres a free shuttle to Cabela's, so I went and bought a few things, noticed suspicious people checking plates in the parking lot(DOJ?), took the shuttle back to the hotel, napped and went home, it's a safe way to get what you want without unwanted attention and with no hassles(not that I advocate buying things that arent CA. legal)....
 
hhhhhheeeeeeeeeee!! :D i just completed my first ar15!! picked up the lower receiver yesterday, started working on it asap. I had so much fun putting it together. the Lower Parts kit was easy compared to how i imagined.. :D Thanks Eisenkreuz and Ratters for much info!! Anyways, here it is:
Del-ton upper, stag arms lower ( hopefully it will darken with oil to match upper)

The only unfortunate.... one of those damn detent things sprung out and launched somewhere in my room... probably never to be found. so now i cant fully secure the rear take down pin until i get a new detent :(

Couple questions:
1) In my LPK picture, what is that circular ring thing for? pictured to the right of the hammer spring. (was left unused according to assembly guide)


2)With no magazine inserted, I am able to cock the gun and the charging handle will spring back forward... Ok normal. However, when a magazine is inserted, I bring back the charging handle BUT doesn't spring back forward. With the magazine inserted, the bolt catch is engaged. Is this normal? how yours is like as well??


3) I cannot switch the gun to SAFE when it is not cocked ( butable to go into safe when cocked.) Is this how its supposed to be??

My marlin 917 is like this, can't switch to safe when not cocked.

1) possibly the washer for the grip screw

2) the empty magazine follower pushes up on the bolt catch and holds the carrier back; that's a feature, not a bug

3) no need to safe an uncocked rifle; that's a feature, not a bug

First congrats on you build!!! Now to answer a couple of your questions.
Yes it is normal for an empty magazine that is inserted to have the bolt stay locked to the rear. it lets the shooter know they're empty. also allows a "faster" reload time since all the shooter has to do is drop the magazine, insert a new magazine then hit the bolt release with out the need for cycling the charging handle to the rear.

Yes it is normal for the selector switch to be "locked" in the semi/fire position with the hammer forward.

btw do you know how to perform a functions check?

Sure did. I'll give TM until the end of the week before I speak with a manager. Trying to keep relations on the good side, since I would still use the range in the future... just not willing to buy guns from there anymore.
