so like ca still has a overlapping ban on characteristics still? i remember the ak/ar ban, but whatever, KAC has a legal modular system for it. and i see people saying how they are putting previously illegal stuff on their ar's because the federal ban dropped. like like whats the real deal on that, ive been hella reading up on it. but i cant find a precise answer, since all it says is "conspicuously beneath the action".

i want to know, but its not like its gonna change my decision. i dont give a fuck

the fed ban on 'assault weapons' expired, but the states have the 'right' to pass more stringent laws than the federal govt. In california, a rifle cant have certain characteristics. Among them, pistol grip and detachable magazine, for instance. Also included would be folding or collapsible stock.

What you posted would not be legal in California if it wasnt already in state and in your possesion before that particular law was passed.

On your .45 on order - nice choice. I have the 'loaded' model with fixed sights and standard finish. Its a great pistol

Those people with the AR, they had the "assault weapon" before the CA ban passed, and it is legally registered. So, since it's an assault weapon already, it doesn't matter if it has 3 or 5 of the assault weapon characteristics (like, removable magazine, pistol grip, collapsible stock, flash supressor, bayonet lug).

The M1A isn't an assault weapon, so it's illegal to turn it into one by adding a flash suppressor or collapsible stock.

Plus, are you sure that chassis will fit the SOCOM model M1a?

Hrm, not even detachable mag? I guess .22's are exempt?

Yep, you can do whatever you want to your 10/22 now. Folding stock or whatever. Of course you had a stock of butler creek hicaps before the ban went into effect. ;)

sohijiro- no can do on that stock. The SOCOM is pretty sweet in its own right though. I'm going to pick up an M1a Scout later on this year. Congrats on the purchase.

i know you have it bill, allen always talks about it, I WANT THE FIXED SIGHTS, but i dont think they make them anymore. i dont even know if i can put aftermarket sights (carry/night) with a slide cut like that, its weird. they have one that bi-tone OD/black, and has "normal " sights, but it doesnt have the cool full rail and full size bull barrel. thats pretty much the only reason i had to have it, i never see a 1911 fullsize with bushingless bull barrel. and i think thats pretty cool

OIC, i guess ill just some other stock, KAC has a good one.

and im sure that the SOCOM will fit. the system was made to modify it into a short barrel like 10'' or something. and yeah ive seen it on the socom.

Thought I'd share

Grandfathers Medals

When Discharged
He was the highest form of Major(one below Colonel)

Which he could have got too, but decided to resign early(had grandkids).

The First one is for Northwestern Frontier(hard to get, was rare). That was for work in India.
The three stars are African Stars, for work in World War 2 in northern africa(against Rummel).

5. is a Defense medal. 6. is a bit harder to explain. 7, and 8 are for Korea. 9 is I am also a bit unsure of(it was all explained, just hard to remember exactly). 10 was for Long Service and Good conduct. And the Last(11) is for Northern Ireland(Fighting that went on there. He was an Irish Catholic, fighting for the British odly enough).

Was in the Royal Artillery

I also have a few left over Bullets(the size he fired- about 1 1/2 to 2 feet long- at least). Dated 1942(pretty badass, I might add!).- Get photos for you sometime soon.

Thought I would share, and you guys who like War History, might enjoy.

What the hell? Just because we talked about it the other night doesn't mean you gotta get out and get it right away! :laughing

UNLESS.... you registered one as an AWB before the ban, then you can do whatever you want with it.

Ben,

I know a lot of people who are buying SAGE and Troy stocks, and I know all of them bought their M1As after the ban. :laughing I wouldn't trip over it, besides, it's like a 5-minute job to swap out the stocks if you're going to a AW-Nazi range.

British Army

Royal Artillery

Fired the Really, Really Big guns

Talked about the day that the Americans, decided to give machines to their war effort(before they joined).
