I'm laying in bed, trying to put myself to sleep reading Counter-Insurgency 101, when the front door crashes open. I reach for the PVS-7, slip on the soft mount, adjust the straps so it doesn't sag, which probably takes a good 5-10 seconds. Reach for my Mossberg 500 and prepare to defend the bedroom door. Bedroom door crashes open and I see the biggest freaking dude in my life. What's that on his chest? A police badge or a school logo? I can't tell, I need to adjust the focus on the PVS-7 to see properly. No time. Range? 5 feet? 20 feet? I don't fucking know, damn NODs don't give depth perception worth a damn, I can't tell if my hands are right in front of my face or 10 feet in front of me. I bring the shotgun up to bear, shit, I can't get a damn sight picture with this thing in my face. Fuck it, hip shot, pull the trigger, boom. Center mass, ooops, he's got a vest, still coming. I don't get a second shot cuz his buddy behind him already did a Mozambique drill on me.

:laughing :laughing :laughing :cry :laughing

What kind of boyhood fantasy world do you live in? Are you a secret agent? Maybe a superspy? You are in possession of valuable CIA/NSA data and are a highly sought-after by international crime rings and terrorist cells? Maybe you're a hitman with unfinished business?

Dude, what do you do for a living? You're a desk jockey at some company, huh? The 94 Mustang V6 parked out front is a dead giveaway that there's nothing more inside your house other than empty pizza boxes and magazines with sticky pages.

But it sure is nice to live life vicariously through characters in Tom Clancy novels, isn't it?

Always keep a loaded mag ready to go. When no one comes in, you can always off yourself.

:loser

The kids got a point :laughing Not all of us own guns to defend ourselfs. Some just like toys. I don't think im a likely target for a 7'2 500lb dude with a school buss pass hanging over his vest busting up in my house.

Since I am not involved in any criminal activity, anyone who comes busting in my house in the middle of the night is the enemy, badge or not.

My point is that if it is night, and you are searching for the bad guy, and the bad guy is hiding and not wanting to be found, then as you are probing around with your light, the bad guy knows exactly where you are while you still don't know where he is. Consequently the bad guy gets his shot at you with a very nice target indicator.

But whatever, if you see your scenario as valid and likely to happen to you then I guess the light would work for that.:confused

edit: I should say actually that if someone comes busting in my house, I will not be checking if they have a badge.

Hey barf militia guys... (and gals)

What's the deal with these:
http://www.kel-tec.com/prod03.htm

I've never seen/heard of them. Under $400??

Legal? Not? What good are they for?

No go cause centerfire with the pistol grip. They do make the SU16 which has a conventional stock that folds but is legal cause you can't fire it folded. It shoots .223 and accepts AR15 magazines. It is an OK gun, but if not for living in California there would be no way I would consider buying one.

What would be the purpose of a gun like this?

I'm guessing it has better accuracy because of the rifle ergonomics, but it's still a low-energy cartridge compared to a real rifle. Am I wrong?

whats your guys opinion on the SA XD series, i feel like getting a composite gun, but dont feel like blowing 1k+ on a fuck around gun right now like a USP, its gonna be xd or glock, just for the hell of it, which do you think would be better? they both cost the same, i would liek some imput. i like the xd 4 inch ported, that would be a fun gun in 9mm peashooter,. since its cheaper than .40sw. dont really like the idea of getting something other than .45acp, but hey its onlky like 400 bucks for one.,

im getting a usp later, the expert. in 45acp. after the SOCOM

I am an XD partisan, I own two. One 4" 40 S&W box stock, one 4" 40 S&W that has been tricked out.
Glock or XD is a toughy, both are great guns, the best one is the best one for you. Take a glock 19 and an XD9 and shoot both, see which fits your hand more. Glocks have a far better factory finish, triggers are 'different', but the factory glock has a much shorter reset which is good for speed shooting. Glocks cost ~100 dollars more. Glock barrels have polygonal rifling, meaning you can't shoot cast lead out of them safely.
Also it depends on what you want to do, for competition, the rules favor the glock, for self defense, either is really good.

Not sure if you knew this, but the XD doesn't come in .45 ACP, only in the new .45 GAP.

Other options for a polymer .45 ACP include the S&W99, Kimber Ten II HighCap, Kahr, Ruger P90 & 345, STI VIP, Taurus Millenium, and probably a few others.

Why mess around, though? If you're going to get the Expert anyway, just get it!

Personally, the Expert is too big for my hands, but the USP Compact .45 fits my hands just perfect.

ARs are much more accurate (on average) and a much better system which is why these are pointless anywhere but California. The purpose would be defense and plinking as you can use AR 20 and 30 rounders if you have them. Ergonomics are much better with a pistol grip as it allows the shoulder to sit directly in line with the barrel. It is a relatively low energy cartridge but still good for defense as well as pest control.

plus AR's with ultra heavy bullets such as the sierra 80 gr. match king are viable out to 600 yards for target shooting.

Are you planning a mission to space? If not than why are you shooting a target upstide down.

So he can shoot him in the ....I would say dick but bin fuckhead has no dick..so pussy then;) without the danger of bouncing rounds off the floor.

But I could be wrong:teeth
