BARF Militia

yeah seriously 4 ft. wtf where they thinking??! just the force pretty much could have killed him even if he did have a BPV on

Some guys on another forum I'm on were talking about AP (armor piercing) cartridges. I was astounded at what they seem to be capable of (ie. passing through engine blocks, etc.). I thought only DU rounds were capable of that.

My first instinct is to assume they're illegal to own and use... are they?

What forum is this? Counter-fucking-strike? Buncha morons.

Hey! I've got pallets of AP ammo for sale. Only $10/round, any caliber. Got them off the same lot they used in Lethal Weapon!!! Teflon-coated shit man, goes right through bullet-proof vests!

:confused Hmm, sorry for the faux pas. I was never in the military like you, Scorpio, so stuff that seems rediculously obvious to you, isn't to noobs like me.

I was just asking an honest question, probing for factoids, that's all.

Wouldn't most rifle rounds be able to penetrate vest anyway? Unless you're targeting light armored vehicles, I don't see the point.

That was a Toyota SR5 transmission before a bunch of FMJ 7.62mm and 12ga. teamed up on it.

I've seen steel core milsurp 7.62x54R rip clean through an engine block, so it's not a far stretch to say rifle calibers could pierce armor, especially at close range.

Didn't mean to shit on you bro! Not my intent at all. I just get irate when little shits who get all their knowledge of guns from movies start proliferating the internet with their bullshit.

The fact is that just about any standard FMJ/ball rifle bullet on the market can be "armor piercing". But what armor are we talking about here? A LEO's bullet-proof vest? A measly .223 will go right through it. The 2-foot steel hull of an M1 Abrams? No bullet in the world will go through that. What most civilians consider "AP" are what the rest of us consider standard ball/FMJ. It's just another catch-phrase designed to scare the pants out of soccer moms, like "assault rifle". Doesn't mean dick, it just sounds scary.

There are "AP" bullets out there that are designed specifically to defeat armor and increase penetration. The .50 RAUFOSS comes to mind, maybe the .30-06 "Black Tip" and who knows what else our military is working on. Rounds that have hardened steel/magnetic/tungsten carbide cores or penetrators never really caught on when shooters realized that expansion, not penetration, is the key to lethality.

:laughing That was a fun day. :teeth

Oh the memories.......

FYI: Gun show in Vallejo this weekend. Small but Miwall is usually there with cheap ammo. I'll be going tomorrow looking for some .44mag and some .357 too.

Well, just got back. Miwall was there and I picked up the .44 and .357 and also picked up 500rds of Lake City ss109 for when the Blue Helmets come. :teeth

As for guns, there were some fab10s for outrageous prices, some DSAs which were nice but also expensive. No really good deals that I spotted and no M1a Scout which is what I'm looking for.

Yes, thank you for not showing me the "Captain's log" :blush :laughing

That would be the "Pilot's log" and you must be a qualified co-pilot to even look at it.

I was a little upset that you kept fondling my "instruments".:twofinger

turned in my carry permit application yesterday. 60 days and I will have it.:teeth
