The problem with Beretta's that I have come across is that is you inadvertantly "limp wrist" it, it will stove pipe. Not something I want to worry about in a high stress situation.

Not to steals Sohijiro's spotlight with his super-nice pieces, but I've been debating the finer points of revolvers with myself. I like semi-autos for the most part, but having shot Ken's roommate's Dan Wesson .44 hand cannon, I must say I enjoyed it. Been thinking about these recently..what y'all think?

Looks a lot like it says "Smith & Wesson" on the barrel, and the logo, too - you sure it's a Dan Wesson?

Oh yea, and I was going to say - you can't go wrong with it! If you pass on it, drop me a PM :)
You can shoot .44 specials or magnums, or make primer-powered wax loads for indoors, and get a lever-action in .44 and share ammo... endless fun!

That's funny, because my experience is the opposite. Since the entire top of the slide is an open ejection port, the brass ejects out very easily and doesn't get caught.

But, I don't think I limp wristed it either, so maybe that helped.

That's a Smith and Wesson 686 4" .357 Magnum. I don't have a picture of Ken's friend's Dan Wesson, but the thing was awesome to say the least.

I got that S&W pic off gunbroker.com ...it was around $500 or so. Still, I think I can find a better value at $500 than a wheelgun. $500 buys a CZ, a Glock, a Walther...

Anyone have thoughts on the Schmidt Rubin K31 that Big 5 has on sale for $100?

Is it easy to find ammo for it? 7.5x55. The straight back bolt intrigues me. They also have the M91 for $80.

Crappy Berettas? What do you base that conclusion on? The one I shot felt great, was made very well, and was super-accurate too, though the accuracy part was probably mostly my fault :cool :teeth

Had the Beretta 96 for about 2 years, it was a horrible gun. Not accurate, didn't like the saftey, didn't feel good in my hand.

Switched my .40 over to the Sig and havn't looked back.

Right now we have M44s in NRA excellent condition for $75. The K31s are also very accurate for the price. Milsurp ammo can be found online for pretty good prices, but I don't know how long that's gonna last.

7.62x54R can still be found since it's used by several military forces as sniper calibers and such

sohijiro - did you paint that rifle? Got any more pics? What light are you thinking about for your TRP Operator? I have a X200 on mine, and it is super bright.

wheelguns - I have a SW 686 4", great revolver, got it for a song. If I had to choose one and only one handgun, hands down it would be a 686 revolver. Probably the most flexible handgun/cartridge combo one can have.

Beretta's are a love 'em or hate 'em type of pistol. Most folks I speak to about them are on one of those two extremes. But to say a gun is crappy 'cause it doesnt fit your hand, or you are not accurate with it is unfair to the gun, and the safety issue should have been apparent when you bought it. One of the most accurate 9mms I have ever shot was a buddies 92FS. Ammo choice can often have a big impact on a particular pistol (or any gun for that matter) accuracy.
A 92FS is on my short list. :thumbup

yup

i painted that rifle during a moment of boredom hahahah
its just a savage 10fp 18 or maybe 20 inch bull barrel (i forgot) .308

i was looking at random lights, i was either going to go way cheap, or get what i really wanted and that was this:

hey bill, how does the x200 perform? i know its a led light and from my experiences, while LED lightrs are bright they dont project light very far. while a standard light projects far reaching beams.

for example,. ricky has a streamlight , and it can light up a object all the way down the block, i have a inova led light and while its very bright and can light up a dark room very well, its not very good at lighting up something, say, 30 ft away.

thats why ive been straying away from the x200, what do you think about it?

the X200 does pretty well at 'contact' distance. It is afterall designed primarily for a pistol. I can check tonight on its long range performance, but up to say 30-50' (my comfortable range for a handgun, and the longest straight line area available to me in my Apt :laughing) it seems fine. That was my only concern about it. Another big benefit of it is its compartively small size. All the standard LED lights I have seen have not had nearly as good a lense as the X200 has.
The light you posted uses 2 inline batteries, which makes the light at least 2-1/2" long for just the battery barrel, add the tail cap and head assembly and I would bet the whole light is at least 6" long. The X200 is 3.5" long. Better, IMO, for a handgun mounted light

hey

whats the deal with "building" your own gun.
can i legally machine my own ar-15 reciever? people say its legal. the law has some abiguities. i want to know.

Have you thought about the Streamlight M3? You can pick one up for about a hundred bucks and is pretty bright.

yup already though about a streamlight, thats probably what im going to get since its becoming a lost cause trying to find a infrared/visible laser/light LAM,

and i already have a new gun in my sights!

in the US you can legally build your own gun. in the prk you can't legally machine your own AR-15 receiver, weld your own AK receiver flats, or make any other banned firearms.

this is the place to go:

RANGE DAY! :D

Glad to hear they finally got their sheet together

yes and no. If you stamped FAB-10 it would be legal, but if you stamped "AR-15" it would be illegal.

beware of caprious law enforcement.
