BARFTRON HOMEBASE

What kind of PC rig do you need to run arma and this mod? My PC is maybe 2-3 years old. Bot sure of my exact specs, but i have a quad core AMD Phenom, 8GB ram, some ATI radeon card with 1GB ram.

And is all this free? I swear I remember hearing that arma was a free game.

Like any game, you can run it on a slower comp by dialing back the res and graphics level. Check the forum for more details: http://dayzmod.com/

I paid $30 for Arma2/Operation Arrowhead bundle on Steam, but I do believe you can use the free version of ARMA2 to be cheaper.

Here's the free version of Arma2, which I understand has lower res textures, and the scuttlebutt says it might be buggier than the full version when used with DayZ

The Operation Arrowhead expansion you'd still have to buy.

For the pretty low price of $30 for the ARMA2/OA bundle, I had no problem buying them both off Steam, and not have to worry.

Back to Comcast I went. Just can't stand how slow AT&T is. Seemed to work ok for gaming, but the bandwidth was never gonna let me pull host.



Oh and BF3 goes double XP tomorrow through the 4th for everyone. And all week if you sprung for Premium. I'm finally about to hit Rank 45 (Colonel).

And Shades...the USAS with frags is still pretty frigging cheap. Takes a shitload of rounds to get kills, but it still is awesome. Even more awesome is it can wipe out a whole crew if they're standing all pretty close to eachother.

Just reinstalled Steam and CS:Source with my newfound download speed. Probably download arma2 this week.

It is pretty fascinating to think back on how personal computers have changed everyone's lives. Just "social networking" has evolved so much. Remember how it started? Sure there were message boards or BBSs for the real OG guys. But it really all came from creepers dropping an A/S/L? in AOL chat rooms.

woo finally got my EOD bot kill, all new guns unlocked :D

now for like 45 squad repairs for some premium dog tag, that'll only take forever
 
Fuckin' Ghost Recon spawn raping. Fuckin invisible enemies. Fuckin enemies who charge into my 950 rpm belt fed 7.62mm hail of bullets and head shot me.

Just ride on the skids of a little bird and use the repair tool on it when the pilot starts taking gunfire. Squad repairs rack up super fast.

Don't forget the fuckin host migration 3 times in a round. Fuckin matches are always lopsided. Fuckin Riflemen noob tubing and able to resupply themselves (flashback to MW2).

The multiplayer of that game is so broken. Controls/camera is really funky sometimes. No way to quit mid match other than dashboard or get invited to another. I really really regret pre buying the DLC. I woulda sold it off now if I hadn't. Because I know Ubisoft ain't gonna do a damn thing to even attempt to patch it.
 
Finally made rank 45 Colonel with one big match (like over 40k XP). Now depressed that there are still 100 more ranks after that.

Also finally unlocked the M98. Omg what a beast. It doesn't matter that it does more damage since you still have to headshot someone to get a kill from super long range. What does matter is the bullet drop is so much easier to compensate for since I swear it's about half of what the SV98 or M40 is.

The other night I was on the winning side of 723 to 15, something like that. Been on both sides of 400s, 500s, one 600, but 723, OMG. Our teammates communicated. The objectives always appeared where we were. We tazed and hacked bitches with a teammate covering the hacker. Me and an engineer with a computer teamed up to hack a bitch in under two seconds. He got 22000 XP.
