BARFTRON HOMEBASE

Anyone play(ed) PlanetSide2? It's not as refined as Battlefield or COD, but given that it's F2P, it's pretty hard to complain. It's a good mix between Halo and Battlefield. I still don't quite get how to play, but I'm pretty good at shooting people.



Who cares about refined when you have 2000 players battling on the same map. Planetside 2 is epic in a way COD or BF3 can only dream of.

What server/faction are you in? I'm on Connery, have characters in all 3 factions but mostly play Terran Republic (EXE).

Playing this again makes me appreciate all of the improvements they've made to the franchise.

Improvements yes. But some things took a turn for the worse.

Hit detection in MW2 was probably the best. Host Pro perk really meant something special back then too. Now...lag comp fuckery makes everyone just scratch their heads with all the bullshit deaths.

If they just would've fixed the OP shit like danger close/one man army/noob tube, commando lunge, absurdly fast quickscoping, and maybe painkiller...that'd be a pretty perfect game. I didn't mind all the "cheap" guns like the UMP or Raffica because there were so many guns that were pretty strong. Since the first black ops, there's only been one or two good guns and the rest are just ones you use when you're bored. Then they nerf and nerf them.

The problem is people confuse "OP" with "lack of skill". Or at least part of the problem IMO. OMA/Noob Tube didn't mean shit if people were smart about playing. You camp, I tube. You run around trying to quick scope, I have a machine gun/SMG/AR. I play HC only so a sniper rifle is a one shot kill anyway. You rarely see people running around trying to quick scope because they'll get fucked if they try. There's counters to every method of gameplay, but rather than implement a counter people would rather the devs nerf whatever is killing them.

I don't know how many times I've been in a match where all I hear is:

Teammates: "OMFG what is with these UAVs/choppers/etc"
Me: "Quit charging and take a second to shoot that shit down then, or run with a blind eye class!"
Teammates: "I don't have any classes set up for AA/blind eye I'm a KILLA son!"
Me: :facepalm

That excuse may fly prior to you hitting max prestige, but goddamn you have 10 classes. Set one or two aside for EMP/AA. It's not fucking difficult. But nooooo. Same mentality with noob tubes, sniping, etc. "Wahhh I keep getting sniped because I'm a dumbass and keep charging down the exact same route where the sniper's camping, also I have no idea how to use a noob tube because I think it's a gay OP weapon so I can't really counter the sniper. Devs, please mark all snipers with vapor trails that give their position away, remove ghillie suits, and make it so if those snipers camp / sit still even with ghost they'll pop up on my radar."
 
Oh I used my fair share of the OMA/tube class. I used to hear tons of whining in the lobby after I would singlehandedly hold down the B flag on Highrise using my cheap as fuck riot shield/C4/ninja smoke/danger close/scavenger class.

Last time I played MW2, I really didn't mind one bit that the whole frigging lobby was full of Johnny Quickscopers. They're easy to beat and they certainly don't play the objective. Just put on the Famas with stopping power and lay them kids down. Led the lobby like half a dozen games in a row until Wasteland came up and all the bushwookies got the better of me.

Personally, I really like what the Ghost perk has evolved to. I think it's pretty perfect now. Now the only thing I'd like to go away is the Blackbird/V SAT. I run a Ghost class and stay off the radar, yet I get saddled with a couple randoms that suck elephant dick (or worse...boosters) so much the other team gets the Blackbird up and I get boned.

Fuck no. Ghost needs to go back just a tad bit to at least where you had to get Ghost Pro for it to completely mask you. I liked my ninja class - Ghost Pro + Dead Silence + Lightweight + Silencer. I like sneaking around, pop someone from cover, move to another cover where I can watch my old spot, get em when they come back for me again, rinse and repeat. Can't do that anymore - they either see you on radar or you get shot in the ass from across the map because you have to move.

I agree with the Blackbird/VSAT though. Even though my team usually takes full advantage. Hell, I have a youtube video where I personally got 5 in one match between care packages and kill streaks. What I'd like to see is where UAVs stack beyond 2. 1 UAV - radar updates slowly. 2 UAVs - twice as fast. That's the current limit. But I'd like it where you could go up to 5 UAVs, get near-blackbird level sweeps, and be forced to maintain your UAVs for the most current positional updates. No directional arrows one way or another, but have to work as a team to get that level of info about the enemy. Currently I balance out killstreaks with friends so that there's usually only 2-3 of us running UAVs and everyone else is rocking VSATs, choppers, etc.
 
I use Ghost different than you then. I use it to get into the enemy spawn and possibly flip it (because my dickhead team sucks and got trapped). If I ever am just gonna post up/head glitch somewhere, I don't bother with ghost and silencers. I go with flak jacket and tac mask so they can't grenade me out. I don't care if they know I'm there, they can keep coming back over and over and losing to my head glitch.

Sad that I hardly see anyone running LMGs. Truly the best head glitch weapon to have. You don't even need to bother with the FMJ attachment since they shoot through pretty much everything possible already. Stock, target finder, and maybe quickdraw and you have an amazing standoff gun.
 
Yeah...I've been playing with the same group of guys since COD4 and the PS3 first came out. You don't have to move as much beyond the initial rush, it becomes an area denial game vs run and gun. There IS still some running and gunning but it's usually 3/3 or 4/2 split - 3 staying and holding the middle with 2 up and 1 back, or 4 holding the middle with 2 up and one of the 4 flexes for the back.
 
Oh well, yeah if I get a crew of BARFtron or other associates of at least two strong players with headsets...then it's EZ win. Doesn't matter what noob randoms I get, they're just along for the ride to the win. The randoms are usually not good enough to push all the way into to their spawn to flip it (and they certainly try), so we can keep a decent trap going.

You guys have seen me hold down the side paths on Slums. As long as we got the courtyard covered, that is a trap that holds all game.
 
Oh. And less than a week to go now for GTA. Probably the very last game I buy for the 360.
