Big difference between the 1991 NSX and your MP4-12C...you're not getting walked by kids in stock V8 Camaros a few years after the car came out.

Oh I agree there are huge differences, I was just pointing out the obvious about being similar, architecturally speaking….
And also true, the NSX was not a "muscle car" so your comparison against a camaro I don't understand…
It would be similar to try and compare a Desmosedici or Superleggera against a Harley or something (oops, sorry !)
Are you sure you're an expert on the NSX ?

I think the point is that performance wasn't on par with that $80k+ price tag. I also think Rob's issues stem more from the owners than the car itself.

MSRP in 1991 was $62,000 (not 80k)
Looks like I might be the "expert" here !

Uh, I don't even know Rob. I probably disagree with him on a few things. Sometimes I take breaks from BARF 'cuz I think it's stupid and I can't relate to 90% of the shit that gets said on this board. But, even with that limited experience, I don't think there's anyone that should really argue anything against him when it comes to Acuras.

The point was that the car never evolved to keep up with the Jones. When it was introduced in 1991, they used the Ferrari 348 as the benchmark. Well great...they beat it. But other than a small increase in power, an extra gear, and some ugly headlights, they never changed the car to keep up with the always raising bar. Meanwhile, Ferrari went through four generations of their car in the life span of the NSX. This is why more pedestrian cars like the Corvette or even the Camaro quickly equaled or bettered the NSX in capabilities. Exclusivity? No. They only made about 9k units in the whole 15 year run.

I assure you, I know that car better than damn near anyone. It's my job to.

In 1991, not one of the cars was sold for MSRP. They were closer to $80k than they were to $62k, and many were closer to $100k.

It had such potential, but Honda essentially abandoned it. And who could blame them, up until the last couple years, they had no trouble selling every one they built.

I think we are all correct here…
I know all too well about the mark-up on the price over MSRP. Back when it was first released, (Sep. of 1990) I paid 20k over to have the first one that came through a dealership (southern Oregon). So yes, it was an 80k car. (And worth it!)

And I agree, by the end of it's run, it had over-lived it's stay….
But in the beginning, it was the shit !
All I was saying is, when it was new and just came out, it was the best thing out there, (1991 car of the year)
Were you guys even there ?:afm199

You think 20 over was a lot, wait till you see what we're going to charge for the new car.

Back to the subject of lic plates…….

One of many personalized plates I've had or still have.
Out of the "ACURA" magazine… (circa 1991)

So you can order plates that you already own?

I saw and very black SUV during my recent travels that looked great except for a chrome license plate frame that just clashed with the rest of it. That one would have looked great with a black and yellow legacy plate - with a black license plate frame. Forget trying to look like something from the 60's, it would have been great for the car's overall appearance.
