CA Legacy Plates program

:thumbup

Thank you for putting it on a somewhat period correct moto (original yellow on black plates were issued from 1963-1969). I saw a legacy plate on a 2015 Hyundai the other day and all I wanted to do was :facepalm

I guess it's double facepalm time since I'm still waiting for one for my 2015 Acura. I don't care about what period they're from. I just like the color.

:shame

You should put one on a first generation NSX, since you're such a huge fan and all.... :laughing

I actually had a first gen NSX (back in '91) with lic plate, "NSX"
Let me dig-up the picture somewhere and I'll post it….

Question: Is the yellow on black legacy plate retro-reflective? All of it (numbers and background) or just one of those?

A quick Google search says the gold lettering is reflective.

That would involve me having to buy one We both know it'll be a cold day in hell.

Of course I don't know the "back-story" here and sounds like an "inside-joke" or something but, The NSX when it was released in Sept. of 1990, was the best car in it's class. (and it's production was one of the reasons Ferrari had to start making better cars ! )

Yup you absolutely don't know the backstory. And I don't feel like getting into it.

But yeah, hi. I'm more than likely probably the biggest NSX expert you're ever likely to have an interaction with, like...ever. But that doesn't mean I have to like the damn thing.

What a prescient thread/comment. I just saw one on a very late model VW GTI on my commute today. It's true. Aesthetically, the color looks nice. But it's a bit jarring & just kinda feels wrong if you know the history of the colors.

No big. Ride yr ride.

I know it "doesn't belong" on anything but a car actually from that era. But how many years have we gone now seeing plenty of those cars driving around with nice bright white plates?

What I've always liked about advertisements for cars they usually put a very subtle license plate on that's painted body color so there's very little contrast. My car is almost black, so that's the look I'm going for. If I had a white car, I'd have left things alone.

I hear what you're saying, I might be sorry I recently ordered these in black.
Currently I have standard colored plates (white) on a white car
Will see….

Oh, and TheRobSJ,
The plates are going on a car that is very NSX-esque, similar in a lot of ways, but modern and with 600+ H.P.
Something like the NSX should have evolved into….
Any guesses ?

A built up Audi R8 most likely?

The car that the engineering team used as the benchmark for the upcoming NSX.

Some sort of McClaren, I'm guessing by the license plate.

Derp. I saw the MC and thought it meant something motorcycle. But yeah a McLaren makes much more sense.

Nice car btw. New NSX ain't touching that thing.

Besides having similar cab-forward, mid-engine layouts, both cars share a familiar look in the interior also.. It's no wonder I felt right at home behind the wheel.

Big difference between the 1991 NSX and your MP4-12C...you're not getting walked by kids in stock V8 Camaros a few years after the car came out.
