California becomes first US state to set efficiency rules for replacement tires

Oh dats weird ware dem modz go??
What are you trying to accomplish by these types of comments? I'm hoping for something positive, but I'm not seeing it at this time.

Well, one might say that a thread about government regulations is political by nature. So, if I had to guess and I don't mean to speak for him, but perhaps pen0rface believes he was highlighting some inconsistencies.

That's a bit of a hobby for him and I find myself in his crosshairs from time to time as well. :laughing

I just like pointing out the inconsistency where berto starts cryin about poli and then ACTION MUST BE TAKEN!!..but then when he's the offender it's just...bish crickets lol.

Driving back from Costco this AM through Santa Rosa it occurred to me that they could save far more gas by not making you stop at every goddam set of lights through the downtown outskirts.

I think it is part of their "traffic calming" goals.

Solid point Geoff. Likely more than the tire bill will save...

Isn't that what the "Automatic Stop/Start" feature on new cars is supposed to address?

You are quite the tool lately.

Just because I prefer naturally aspirated machines and think that turbos are for poons??

Is that a real goal or are you being sarcastic? It's infuriating! Is that the point, to make driving so frustrating that you just wont do it?

I bet AI could fix this, but where's the profit?

I've thought that many times when driving through some cities.

The technology exists to time up the lights so that driving at the speed limit should get you through most of the lights cleanly.

I've have gone down Fell St in SF many times where the right speed will get you through every light without stopping, and that was before AI.

Yeah, you have a valid point, if their goal was to reduce gas use there were plenty of other, less invasive, things they could have done. This one has a smell of money from an industry urging them to pass laws that will financially impact drivers.

I am beginning to suspect this is the plan in San Francisco. Pedaling is often faster than driving and that’s before you factor in looking for parking.

I kinda think that anyone with a 20" tire is feigning concern over this issue. :laughing

Does this mean there's soon to follow a State Efficiency Rule that eight CALTRANS Supervisors can't lean on their hoods watching one or two workers shoveling?

When have you ever seen a caltrans maintenance crew with more than one supervisor present?
