machete
black out
....with lots of beer waiting at the destination.
a few guys said they wanted to go, so i thought I would post this up for them. with plenty of time to get days off, and/or figure out if they want to go.
here are the dates and details for the road trip to Rocky Point.
May 18th (thursday) take off early in the morning. and haul ass south. probably thru Hollister to Coalingua and then meet up with IH5 somewhere, and add one or two more riders from S.L.O.
if we make rocky point the first night that leaves 3 nites in Rocky point to drink beer, tequila, eat some kick ass mexican food, some beatles, hang on the beach, and shoot fireworks all night long, and drink more. (i'll post pics. of our last rocky point trip)
then sunday, May 21st, ride back. I'm probably of the mind, to definitely come all the way back to Oakland on that day.
the first day out there, has the added time to be broken up into two days and if needed, i'm up for stopping in Yuma, Az.
there is a roger clyne concert in Rocky Point, and if anyone is into that, they can check it out. it's saturday.
i've calculated 816 miles from my doorstep, Oakland, to Rocky Point, Mexico.
I would like to enter Mexico south of Yuma, Arizona at San Luis Rio Colorado, and then ride east on hwy. 2 to the cut off. I also want to see if the road thru the biosphere park is paved or at least in good condition to cut thru and then make it to Rocky Point.
If you guys have any questions, let me know, pm me.
i'll pm you guys as well. (yellowgixxer, 280squaggler, wazzuFreddo, pelikan)
i'm in oakland, and work 3 nites a week, so have plenty of time in between to hang out, or sit and talk about the run.
i don't know if you guys have done long runs, on your bikes, or how fast you move. I am pretty efficient, and quick on the bike, and on long trips. when making time, I gas up quickly (can be done in less than 5 min and back on the road) and rarely take breaks. i'm happy to bend that to help other guys. but for those that might not be up for pounding away 800 miles, moving fast to very fast sometimes, you might want to wait till i take a ride somewhere nearer. cause the summer is heating up and the bike is running awesome.
i'll be on the monster (M900) for this trip.
for you gsxr guys. my buddy rode with me from san diego to El Paso on his Hayabusa, no problems, actually, i've found no real problems on the open hwy. on those sport bikes.
anyway.
i'm doing this. if you're up for it. let me know. if not, no worries, i'll bring back photos, and ride it on my own.
cheers
p.s. (EDIT) I should post this too, since it's a trip into Mexico, ABSOLUTELY NO GUNS! mexico has a no tolerance policy on any one bringing guns into mexico, even one bullet on your possesion, if found, will have you in jail with Pablo the goat fucker and you don't want that. okay, disclaimer off. hahahaha
EDIT TWO: while it is more convenient and easier all the way around to have a passport, going to mexico isn't that hard without a passport. The southern border is not as strict (on the way into the U.S.) as the northern border with canada. go figure. the mandatory use of a passport to get back into the U.S. will go into effect by the end of this year, if I recall correctly. good proof of I.D. and maybe a birth certificate to not have to waste time at the border always good. at worst they can pull you into secondary and check you out completely.
EDIT THREE: not newbie friendly.
800 miles in one day, above average speeds, nothing reckless.
