CEO of Barilla Pasta tries to flush company down toilet (Boycott Barilla)

Buncha people too passionate about gay issues around here, with your extremist attitudes that any regulation or differing opinion is bad regulation and opinion. Why not just accept some more limitations and anti-gay opinions, ya buncha sick fetishists....oh wait. that would be a stupid and narrow minded opinion to take, and pretty hateful terminology to use too....

Not sure if you've noticed, but voting doesn't seem to do much. I'm of the belief that voting with my dollars might be more productive. I'm especially adamant about supporting local bricks and mortar.

And you're probably shopping at stores owned by racists, homophobes, xenophobes, and other phobes and just don't know it. Only difference is you know what the Barilla guy is thinking. You have no clue about the rest. And if you did, and still felt the need to only spend at businesses owned by enlightened perfect people, you'd spend all your time looking for a place to shop.

You're attributing way too much, I think. I (for one), will make it a point to abstain from buying Barilla products. My cupboard is currently full of their pasta, but I won't go so far as to throw it all away. If I need a certain pasta and Barilla is all I can find, I'll buy it. I won't go hungry to prove this point.
Nor will I post on here, or FB, or anywhere else, trying to get others to join me in my fight against a faceless corporation. I will simply vote with my dollars.
How is this extreme, or narrow minded? How is this "too passionate"?

Assuming everyone in the world is hateful, your scenario holds true. Personally, I find that outlook to be way too pessimistic for my tastes.

I'm a coprophobe. :x

Kevin, I'll start giving you the free samples I get at work - no way can I ever eat it all. :laughing

So, nobody goes to Chik-Fil-A or buys anything from mormons, either?

Non-news.

Never eaten at Chik-Fil-A, never will, either.
Dunno any Mormon-owned business owners.

Jokes on them. I can only afford safeway brand pasta.

And it's not "hip" to support gay marriage as much as it isn't "hip" to have supported interracial marriage.

:thumbup

It's weird, though. He apparently supports same sex marriage. I'm not sure how much of a hateful bigot this whole debacle makes him, but I'm going to pass on Barilla from now on.

Not that it's going to affect their bottom line one bit. Chick-fil-a had lines out the door after they made their homophobia public.

When they first opened out here... but I seem to recall the owner recanting/modifying his stance... so I'm guessing, on some level, he caved to pressure, at least enough to pay lip service.

The CEO now says "gays can eat the pasta of another manufacturer."

Ours is a classic family where the woman plays a fundamental role

I'm sure, for the CEO, that it has something to do with barefoot, in the kitchen, making pasta sammiches...

you need to cut back on that whole "projecting" thing :p

Jet Blue. SkyWest. Marriott. Many, many big businesses. They generally don't publicise what they own too much, but they will sell you stuff and take your money even if you don't agree with their message.

No, not everyone is hateful. But many people have biases that you would not agree with and yet you're doing business with them everyday. You just don't realize it.

:laughing And what, pray tell, should I do with this non-information? I can only act on what I know. When I find out that I purchase another product that is sold by someone I wouldn't want to do business with, then I will make that decision.
