Digital SLR / DSLR Camera Question / DSLR Thread 2

When I was playing around with the SB600, I'd trigger it remotely with commander flash off my D90. I could set the manual flash settings in camera.

What are you using to trigger it? The SB-600 doesn't have a dedicated manual slave mode IIRC?

I've got a D70 so I'm triggering it in commander mode.

It works for me. I'll buy a cable/cord thing once I figure out what I need to actually buy. Or a set of those knockoff PocketWizards.

I know that's capable of TTL with the remote via pop-up flash, but you're using manual power control, correct? Because that's key to what you're really trying to learn here.

:confused :confused

I've got my camera set to [M]anual and commander mode (manual) set using the pop up flash.

need to get my focusing screen cleaned and i see a lil spec on my mirror...i tried blowing the dust off with rocket air and it just wouldnt blow the spec off...do you guys know where i can take my camera and get it cleaned?..

By the way, I've been playing around with RAW files and white balance adjustments and I have one thing to say: RAW files are totally awesome!!!

Maybe I'll have to shoot RAW all the time now, this is just too convenient. I had no idea it was this valuable. Plus, RAW files are only 5 MB on my lowly D70.

Does anyone shoot neutral gray cards for correcting white balance later? If so, what do you use? In the 10 minutes I have been playing around, it doesn't seem totally necessary. Even just using the eye-dropper on neutral targets in the photo (shadows, etc.) seems to give remarkable results!

By the way, I don't remember if it's been posted here before, but I figured I'd post the link to one of my favorite inspirational videos:

It doesn't matter what level photographer you are, you will want to pick up your camera and go shoot something after this video. :thumbup

of my 250ish film shots, I like 91 of em, not a horrible ratio. Will upload to flickr soon, 1.3 gigs for 91 photos is nuts haha

Ana was just over, picked some out, will upload soon. Haven't had time to do post-prod yet, so...

I know, there's all kinds of things wrong with them, possibly my worst shoot so far, didn't even use the strobes more than half the time, but ho hum. Got to play with light on her face/body a bit, and even going the wrong way is still learning.

Okay, thankfully my mac still has me logged in. But I have no idea what the actual username is. I'm assuming some former email address, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. If I ever accidentally log out, I'm screwed. :laughing

w00t! :banana was getting everything organized for a job tomorrow, and found three sets of rechargeable AA's.

Batteries on the charger, memory cards formatted, camera cleaned, lenses ready....night before a wedding is always a little stressful. :laughing

THAT'S where I left them!

Anyone seen my 52mm lens cover? Not that they're expensive, but damn, the aftermarket ones suck ass!
