i labeled all the wires and took off all the buttons and joysticks so i coud strip the surface down to the metal.

i found out this cabinet was origonally a super street fighter II cabinet! kinda cool
im thinking of just painting it black and putting a few layers of clear acrylic over that to make it more durable.
for the sides of the cabinet i decided ill paint it in chalk board paint so i can customise it as i please.

you could also smooth it out, primer it, and then add a vinyl sticker. i prefer something smooth that won't rub off too easy, you're probably going to have to respray the acrylic eventually due to wear-and-tear.

you also mentioned neo geo roms? which emulator are you using and which roms are you trying to play?

Wow! You're already WAAAYYY farther than I am! Please keep posting updates! This post needs more exclamation marks!!!!

that's intersting... I'm using mame32 v 0.90. all my neo geo roms work and I've downloaded a few new ones recently (aero fighters 2 and 3)

shit i fried the comp i was gonna use for mame!
i was putting in a lan card into a old computer i havent used in a while and after i put in the an card i couldnt find the drivers so i powered down and went to look for drivers on my laptop, pulled out the lan card to check model number, when i put the lan card back in i guess that was when i knocked this little metal clip ff the case of the computer and it landed on top of the sound card. i didnt notice this and when i powered it back on i smelled electrical burning, a quick investigation with te flah light showed me the clip lying there as if to say "fuck you and your efforts".
so ima little bumbed about that. i have another comp i was gonna keep as my main comp, has ubuntu on it but i guess i just partition my windows comp with ubunt and use this for mame, so now i gotta figure out whether to use ubuntu for mame or install xp on it.
:(

It was a SF2:CE! Ha!

Doh! Sorry to hear about the fried computer!

Can you verify the monitor was 25" diag? How much room was left over on the monitor mount? Did it look like you could squeeze a 27"er in there?

yeah looking at the monitor opening, you could probably fit a 27"-er in there if you wanted to. my dynamo cabinet is the same. it's in worse condition though, I still need to rebuild one of the corners, primer/repaint it, and get new t-molding.

sorry to hear about your PC, R3DS!X. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end :teeth

yeah i did some measurements and the 27" wg should fit.
ima get the wg next paycheck!!!!

i got mame running on ubuntu and i got the neogeo roms to wokr i was playing ff mark of the wolves last night!

i couldnt get the directional buttons to work on the usb game pad i was using but i dont think it will be a poblem for the jamma controls as the jpac maps it out to keyboard strokes.

i filled all the holes with epoxy and am gonna sand em down adng et ready for some painting. need to order some new t moldign and a coin insert for the door.

still debating on using quarters or tokens. the coin door is already rigged to use 984 tokens so i can use either quarters or tokens.

is there some place where i can get mint quarters?

for the button area im thinking of some contact paper and a few layer of clear acrylic over that. i think ti should hold up okay.
chalk board paint on the sides and black on the inside.

you could try the bank maybe? If you don't mind the extra cost, I'd go with tokens. Quarters tend to get spent on other things eventually

anyone know where i can get the light guns that work with pc that are like the time crisis ones? where the slide kicks back?

so im working on the art for the marquee im gonna have made.
this is a rough draft but thought you would like to see the progress.
3330503793_f546d8f4bb_b.jpg

i want to add a few more characters and i need to clean up the edges, any feedback or suggestions are welcomed. if there is something you think should be added post it up, id like the art to "belong" so im not gonna put puzzle bobble in.

the origonal resolution is 1836 x540 im hoping that will be big enough to print out to 25.5x7.5

i would really like some opinions and input on this. i know its and old thread that prolly only tocino and jordan look at, but come on!

AAAAHHHHH!!!!! fucking jack hammering weasel!!!

so i was trying to edit my hard drives partition to install windows on it side by side cause i had a lot fo stuff on my ubuntu install and didnt want to loose it. so i used gparted to shrink my ubuntu partition and made a 64gb ntsf partition which should have been more than enough room to install xp. so all is good and i go to install xp and i entered in the wrong command and reforatted everything.
fucking awesome!
all my roms and the art for the marquee is gone!
so i gotta start from scratch. i got xp on and have downloaded the roms again and haver started messing with mala and getting the computer ready to be setup as a mame box.

its the marquee art that has me really frustrated cause i didnt have any backup of it except for a jpeg but it isn't the finished version i had. so thats gonna take a few evenings again....

You deleted all the partitions?

OOPZ.

The Art looks good though. Needs more Akuma and Sagat, IMO.

This thread caused me to fire up MAME for the first time in years. "RED ALERT. Enemy aircraft approaching. FRANCE. 20 jet fighters approaching. Destroy all enemy fighters by 1100 hours or MIRV will be launched."

Why even deal with coins at all? You should be able to rig a button for the 'coin added' key.
