Do You Mountain Bike?

It's comparable to the Epiphany (which see really liked, but the price is wayyy too much) and it's a pretty solid bike with complete custom build kit and what not. She likes it haha

Buying new or used? Either bike is $$$ really, but the Ellsworth causes much droolage... :drool

I'd have to sell one on my motorcycles in order to pick up one of those babies. Believe me - I've thought about it.

The new Trek is working out just fine though - but man, I'd love a Ellsworth...

Buying new and those Ellsworth are bankkkk (2500 just for the frame, :wow). We also read some not so great things about Ellsworth customer service and their rear linkage cracking and what not. Supposedly everything is "better" now, but for $2500 for the frame, they better damn well give good service :laughing. But yea, she's pretty set on the Turner

Have you ridden an Ellsworth yet? I'm wondering how noticeable the refinements are that Trek made to the suspension design.

I've not ridden an Ellworth. I'm commenting, I guess, purely on the intangibles - "sex appeal"? Specially the "new" new '08 Epiphany.

Two things I noticed most about the new Trek:

1) The new Fuel EX allows for late/hard braking with very little drama in the rear. It's very smooth...

2) The bike is a bit noisy (creaks?).

With only the tires upgraded (Nevegals) and the rest of the bike stock - the new EX is a really nice ride. My suspension is really liking the recent tweaks and it translates to keeping the wheels on the ground well and smoothening almost any rough sections that come at you.

Overall I'm very happy. I just need to heal up quicker - my ribs hurt still after 3 days! Damn injuries suck...

What happened Rick? You still haven't spilled the beans!

I fell back and landed on top of the front wheel of the bike directly behind me. My entire weight came down as my right side impacted Natalie's wheel. Felt like I got hit by a bat. Got the wind knocked out of me for a few minutes, but I finished the ride...

anodized and thin. was riding with a friend when his broke, and have read numerous horror stories of ellsworth frames crumpling.

Wow. Any horror stories with Ventana? I've wanted one since '96... (a Marble Peak). The El Ciclon is especially nice...

ventana is one of the sickest frame co's around. Geo's feel dialed on their whole line. My cousin has their DH bike and i LOVE it.

Hate to interrupt the biking banter but my cell phone just took a crap.
Anyone have an extra AT&T / Cingular phone they want to let me borrow or buy.

Joe, I have a slew of old blackberry's (7290's). Free if you can get down here to grab one or send a messenger..

Downtubes at the bottom bracket cracking. Ugliest looking FR/DH frames. Them not honoring warranty on an XC frame and that was a bike shop employee that sold their frames.

As long as ur not a big guy... one of my riding buds (over 6' and 200lbs) cracked his Ventana frame where the seat tube meets the top tube. He called Ventana and they told him he was too big and it was not covered under warranty. I think they offered to try and fix it for around $500... needless to say the cracked frame is still sitting in his garage.

Ev'.
I am a technological neanderthal and the blackberry has almost been my worst nightmare trying to figure out (again, I am a technological neanderthal),...

That said, It is a life saver and you were superkule to take time out of your work day and hook me up.
Can't thank you enough dude! :thumbup

Who made your bike?

Most of you may not care - some will... http://allanti.com/page.cfm?PageID=328

I've resigned to keeping my "vintage" Made-in-USA M2 Stumpy... But I simply must "get over" the whole "made-in-Asia" thing. Hey - I still refuse to buy a Korean car... sorry - that's where I draw the line. :laughing

Interesting read though.
