Do You Mountain Bike?

Whistler

I rode the mountian bike park from 2 to 5 this afternoon.

OMG!!!

I've been riding around the valley and surrounding mountians cross country since Sunday and it has been awesome. Today I left the wifey behind at about 1 and paid my thirty bucks and took the gondo to the top.

The trails are all sorts, but many are a series of berms and bowls and jumps. Man made amusments. Back to back. Smooth run ins with a nice lip and a great landing. I don't even like this downhill mtn bike think and I was giggling my ass off. Like 20 great jumps on a run.

I always thought the big hit downhill bikes and that sport was pretty silly compared to motorcycles. I was wrong.

Huge fun. This is like nothing I have every experienced... Big fun. Scary shit too. I walked down a couple thing.

Words cannot describe, and I sure can't take my camera on the hill.

great runs:
A line and B line
Crank it up
Golden Triange
Heart of Darkness
Ho Chi Min
Karate Monkey
Ninja Cougar
Freight Train
No Joke
No Duff
and of course, The Terror Never Stops, but that is outside the park...

Awesome:laughing

Sounds like a total blast:thumbup

What bike were you riding?

You should try and hit up Northstar before their summer season ends. Planning on going there the weekend of 10/3-10/5 (last weekend before they close for the winter).

I want to head there soo bad

Maybe next year

A great...

... lazy afternoon. Too hot out in the garage so I was wrenching in my centrally cooled home. The toys are freshly tuned and sporting some new bling.

I'm raising my bottle of Fat Tire to all my fellow riders... :thumbup

One one hand, it's great to have downieville-esque rock-garden strewn singletrack right out your front door.

On the other, you know it's just a matter of time until you wad it big on those trails.

Like I just did. Ouch. That was my hardest in several years.

This was one of those "jam the front into a rut, get enough air to say "oh fuck this is gonna hurt" before you land falls.

Luckily, I seem to take hits pretty well. Kinda serves me right for trying to get my chain back on the ring while speeding alongside a rut that's about a foot wide and a foot deep.

My shoulder is sore enough that I probably won't be swimming for the next couple of days, but that's fine...

Mike, WTF! How are you feeling today...??

Not as bad as I thought. Shoulder isn't really stiff - shouldn't be a problem to do some swimming tomorrow.

I did a road ride today with the Cal Poly Wheelmen. Most of the group was pretty recreational, and the pace at first was pretty casual. As the ride went on, so did the breakaway groups - it turned out to be a pretty quick 40 miler!

One of the guys in front won the Jr Downieville XC race in 06-07, and the Cat 3 class at the Diablo hill climb (something like 25 minutes from North Gate to the junction, 45 minutes from North Gate to summit). Holy crap that guy is quick uphill, even on his single speed, fender shod commuter...

Glad you're ok. There are a lot of cyclist everywhere there on the central coast. I remember while out on a Sunday ride, 5 of us got "dropped" on the 5 mile climb by a bunch of damn good-looking chicks. The UCSB female swim team was out on a "cross-training" activity that day... :|:laughing

Quick request

I hate begging for help, but I could use a hand here.

I need to be back in the Bay Area tonight to cover the AFM races tomorrow, but I don't currently have a place to stay. I was (and still might) car camp it at Infineon, but I'm not sure what time the gate closes.

If anyone can throw me some shelter, I can repay the favor with pizza perhaps?

If you can help, please shoot me a PM.

I have to paint. Next time I would like to go. A little more notice would be nice also. Oh well. Next time.

First time riding the Marin Headlands...decent training loop!

From the GG Bridge, our loop was: Coastal > Miwok > Old Spings Road > Marincello > Bobcat > Coastal

Today's ride:

13.71 miles, 3100 ft of climbing

What is your typical loop?
