Do You Mountain Bike?

So, I just got back from the Parkfield Classic downhill race. Holy shit what a course. Think CCCX style speed and steepness, on hard pack instead of sand. With real berms. And real drops. And rock gardens.

Not being confident in my ability to drop cleanly at speed, I took the pussy lines around everything, with a light fall at the bottom in my run after picking a bad line on one of the last steep drops.

One section (which the beginners did *not* take) had like a 1-2 foot step down into a steep drop that must have been about 60 or so feet high, with a G-out at the bottom that - if hit right - would launch you over the next hill.

It's a full weekend thing - next time I'd be up for taking both bikes and doing both XC and DH. Hopefully by then I'll have a more aggressive DH bike - the Cannondale doesn't seem to like the high-speed g-outs, and there were a lot of them there.

well its almost 2 months away but any of you guys gonna do the bay area turkey rides?

theres one on pine mountain near fairfax and the others in the south bay somewhere. The south bay is supposedly a social with people riding yard sale bikes, and the marin ones a little more serious.

i am interested but would like more info. Got any?

Found footage of the g-out at Parkfield. I saw a guy bail on the way down, slamming into the rise on the exit. He was laid out for like a minute - we figured his collarbone was history. Fortunately, he just had the wind knocked out of him.

The Ironhorse would eat that up but the Nomad (at least with me on it) would be sketchy.

But I digress, these days I just want to be able to sit in a chair without pain.
Hey, anyone wanna buy some pain meds? ;) juuussstt Kiiiiding

.

^^ looks interesting. Did u guys ride N* at all? I bailed with the weather :thumbdown

They closed the mountain on Saturday because of the rain, so we didn't ride N*. We ended up shuttling that DH trail. Traction was awesome!:)

FOR SALE: 2006 Fox Vanilla RLC 130

The fork is in excellent condition.

It was rebuilt by PUSH Industries February '08.

The fork currently has purple springs set for a 115-155lb rider. I also have an extra set of blue springs that will work for a 150-180lb rider.

Travel: 130mm

Steer tube length: 7.25”

Asking price: $325

I need the purple spring if you end up selling it to somebody who doesn't need that light weight spring for my g/f's bike.

I remember awhile back there was a BARFer who was a bicycle mechanic...is he still around? My '09 Trance X0 is set to arrive in the next week or so and I don't trust myself to set it up.

Thanks
