Do You Mountain Bike?

Trainers

So the sun is down by the time I get home. I don’t much like the idea of riding my road bike at night, in the cold (I guess I can run), so I was thinking about “trainers” (not Richard Simmons or that annoying Tae Bo guy). Any of you guys/gals use trainers (Cycle Ops, Kinetic, Blackburn, etc) for your fall/winter training regimen? I’m looking at getting one for myself for some indoor road riding/training. I could have benefitted from it last night for sure…

I’ve read many of the reviews online for many units and there are problems with virtually most brands out there. I was looking at getting a fluid trainer for myself. Any recommendations as to a particular model? Anyone selling one?

Thanks!

So where do ya'll ride after some decent rain?

I rode China Camp (backside and lower loop) last Sunday. Trail wasn't bad at all. Despite a couple of small puddles, traction was nice. My bike didn't even get dirty:p

I've also been told that Tamarancho and Marin Headlands drain well.

Don't do Tamarancho, it'll ruin an already falling apart trail! Trail maintenance is needed and riding it will only make it worse especially after a rain like we just had.

Saying that, I"m thinking of heading out to CC this week :)

After the downpour on Saturday, I needed to get out for my sanity. I headed to Rockville (Fairfield). It was perfect - nice and packed - no traction issue and the solitude was refreshing... :)

Tamarancho does not drain well from my experience. CC is good, but the main places we go to are Annadel, Skeggs, and Saratoga after the rain

Tamarancho Race this weekend, I'm in pretty pathetic shape compared to when I did my first race so I doubt if I'll get a first place this time :dunno................more like last place :laughing but I've always wanted to do a race there. Damn its 3 6 mile loops though, even for beginners which is longer than doing 2 normal loops (normal loop is 8.3 miles) I'm worried if I'll even finish!

Anyone else up for it?

How about Scotty our resident hero? :rolleyes:cool:p

2 laps is easily doable...but 3? Hmm.....

IIRC the "normal" loop from the gate is 6.9 miles -- well, according to Motionbased.

I think your motionbase is not correct I've always counted 8+ miles

So basically 18 mile race on very technical course.....yay :|

Wish I had been riding harder lately so I was more prepared, but I'm just gonna do it for fun albeit I come in last place

if i had an xc bike i would be doing it.

Can't you just slap a different set of gears on your bike? Still have the Nomad right? Isn't that the bike that you did 46 minutes on?

EDIT: Roxy; Mike says same distance but I don't think its only 6 miles for full loop, kiosk to kiosk. Could be wrong tho.....

His Nomad is long gone.

kiosk to kiosk, was 6.9-7.0 miles each time I've done it.

Thinking about doing it? Womens is only 2 loops :) (find me a wig!)
