F*CK Facebook!

I did What's App HQ in Mt. View before the purchase. Brian and Jan the Founders were cool dudes that were car fans.
I think they both scored big when Meta bought them. Saw some bling new rides.

Meeting folks like that and the building owner who was learning to fly fighter jets for fun is a cool part of my job.

I have never found a good deal or anything remotely resembling one on FB marketplace.

CL diehard here.

Now if all y'all would get off FB and get back on it, that's be real nice too.

Make CL great again

CL search and alerts is 100x better than fb
I recently sold a truck on FB. CL I had to pay for and it didn't get me a bite, not one.

Everyone's moved over. It's crazy how awful marketplace is and how everyone moved over.

How about, when you click on "vehicles" you have some decent filter criteria like miles, price, year, etc., but since you don't want to be looking at the miles on a winnebago when you're searching for a car, you click on "cars"....and all that search criteria disappears. Nope, can't do it, we do not have the technology to filter by mileage while searching in the cars category. I mean, of course it doesn't.

And I'm searching for a chevy volt, which plenty of them come up, but since you don't want to look at the ads that are 46 weeks old, when you sort by most recent, but maybe 10-20% of the results at most are what you search for. No silly, of course you can't search by title, that would be crazy.

Oh and whenever you make any edits to a search, everything resets. Nothing persists like with CL. Miles filter, gone. Year range, gone.

It's such a giant piece of shit made especially for f-word-r-words, which admittedly....to that end, it works to perfection.

I'm able to find stuff decently well on FB marketplace. The problem isn't finding things: it's sellers. Marketplace isn't made to get you in and out; it's made for time-on-site. The classified are to up a user's time on site and thus, FB's monetization.

Plenty of Volts at auction. Bought a really nice Gen 2 for one of my people a few months ago off FBM. Great deal too...turned out the guy selling was a big motorcycle guy too.

Yeah, I'll wash down my words with a good glass of tequila as I found my new truck this week on FB also

I had been searching all platforms for months

I think CL was made by actual people that actually care (as much as you can care, on a text website) . One of them apparently strolled by at a coffeeshop I was at (coffeeshop by now closed.) People don't know that 2001-2005 CL was basically 3 people (and 2-3 more "mods" in these years.)

And where low-IQ sellers write in all caps, with no commas or periods.
that situation never changed in decades!!! :laughing

i chicken-shitted out wrt the norton. tried my friends. am too dumbass uncoordinated to manage the right side shift. but would still love to head up to meet you. you said you wouldn’t accept any payment for the new battery and gassing up the norton, but at least let me buy you lunch. and if tequila is your thing (it’s mine as well), will sweeten the deal with a very fine bottle.

I love that there are good deals on FB, like I'm literally just sitting down from buying two of these at $50ea, but their filtering structure at least in the vehicles section is absurd.

Volts are good deals. Much better deals than Priuses etc.

There are waaaaaaaaay more 300k+ mile prius' out there than volts though. The 2nd gen prius reliability is tough to beat, all the fixes are well known/documented for the diy'er, the battery is way cheaper and not under the car, plus they get about 10mpg better when running on gas. If only the prius didn't come with the stigma. But, the volt is good for anyone with a short commute that doesn't get out of that ~35mi battery range, though if a commute is that short, an old leaf would be better since it's super easy to find really nice ones with low miles for like twenty five hundred bucks.

2nd Gen Volt's are about 55-60 miles on a charge and run around $15K. 2LT ftw. The Volt drives much better than a Prius, but isn't Toyota quality. Still, decent maintenance/ quality, Leaf's are only good for 20 mile commutes or less. They're also impossible to resell. Not the case with a Volt or Prius.

priuses have some respectable grunt when the driver puts their mind to it. only notice because of the (however minimal) long pedal pressure it takes to pass. volt? if i’ve ever encountered one, it went completely unnoticed.

At least it's not like CL where car dealers list the same car 7-8 times. And where low-IQ sellers write in all caps, with no commas or periods.
Searching chevy volt sort by newest, there are three volts in the first 18 results and five of them are the same red 4runner five times. It's the same low IQ idiots, except on a low IQ platform.
