possible, but unlikely. the valkyries in my family are very long lived, and have a history of outliving their men.

Well, in the words of of an old Viking Jarl referring to the Finns, "the are all black witches in their black dark woods," so, yes, my Viking adjacent people in the old country watch for the spirits of things not ours.

So while everyone else is getting sexed and turned into cows, and having plagues and locusts and shit, we can just leave out some offerings and be chill.

:laughing

offerings are a reciprocal gesture of exchange. it’s where the worlds of what was and what is intersect. a path to being heard, and a path for whatever kindness (e.g. karma) may be returned. sort of a metaphysical internet lol.

Yes, and my tribes in the old country were Animistic, so there was spirits in god damned everything.

Did you not respect that rock you dug up in the backyard to build the fence?

LOL, now you got a Rock Ghost fucking with you, good luck with pooping weird and finding rocks in your shoe for the foreseeable future. Better find you some harmony, Son.

:laughing

so true dude. don't even get me started about the bright blue beans we dug out of the snow in the winter, and what grandad said it meant if the crows were calling when we found them.

Are you familiar with the boat-burning funeral tradition of your peeps?

Gas dock. Konocti. 1990, as a gas boy. We pushed her out and let her burn. Amazing funeral for that warrior. I ended up putting it out eventually with my Standup Jetski.

Fun note that while the Christians were busy figuring out how to write their book and writing ways to make sure women stayed property, the Scandinavians had systems where women could own property, had a right to divorce, and yes, be buried with full honor. Sadly the ships set alight at sea have not left a lot of relics, but Vikings also buried their Boats as tombs sometimes, and a huge one was found in Norway with a wealthy and powerful woman as the honored at rest.

lol - yeah. mounds too though.

laughing because in my family (hardcore hunting and fishing fanatics), they’d probably burn down their house before they’d burn their boat. :laughing

I mean, the living and breathing wife was placed on the boat with the dead husband, boat set on fire and then pushed out to sea. Wife would then remain faithful to hubby. That’s why I recommend checking out before your SO lol

lol - not an issue. my SO is portuguese. and although i am not, portuguese men only have one fear - and that is portuguese women (so i get that respect by association - so no harm shall come to me :laughing).

Not always, that was usually with slaves or if a rival was trying to kill off the couple for power trip reasons.

I LOVE portuguese women and would be amazing if I ever actually hitched to one if she's still got that connection to california portuguese heritage and culture. However....they're definitely a proud strong kinda breed of women. They'll whoop their man's ass if needed but extremely loyal from what I've seen and experienced.

That being said, my experiences are as a central valley dweller, living amongst the portuguese dairy and ranch families. Going after the festa queen, dating the festa queen, etc etc. No idea how the big city portuguese women are like though.

omg dude - i would NEVER respond out loud. NEVER offend a portuguese women! no matter how slight the offense. not long after meeting my SO, found out my future MIL hadn’t spoke to one of her sisters in over 10 years. i asked him why, and being naive at the time, expected some major issue. he says it was thanksgiving dinner, and his aunt told his mom her sweetbread wasn’t as good as their avo’s (great grandmother). it was ON after that. i was like wtf?!?!

living in the central valley, you are literally surrounded by my SO’s relatives (both by birth and by marriage). all in big ag. one family reunion he took me to in tulare was attended by over 3,000 (closest relatives only lol).

WRT ‘loving’ portuguese women - yeah, they are awesome, but also (and you didn't’ hear it from me) batshit. they are usually small, beautiful and outwardly charming. but it's deceiving. you kinda got to go into it like combat - full body armor. :laughing

Oh, not for me. As the only things they were afraid of, we black witches in our black woods discussed the old ways in the old country often. Especially when the Norwegian part of the family was around. :laughing

That's not late...RESIST showing our age Brett!

I don't think LB is up around our age, she's never indicated.

I didn't want to quote her post so that she could go back and edit it. :laughing
