Frank Sommerville

The norplant style implant that inhibits alcohol use (puke your guts out) can't get approved in this country, it's available in Europe. I wonder how much the alcohol lobby had to do with that?

No shit? Probably a LOT to do with it. Same thing for voluntarily restricting one's ability to buy alcohol, indicated by their ID.

Me too. I haven’t watched local news in years but FS always came across as a guy you’d wanna hang with unlike constipated Dan Ashley or fake voice hemorrhoid Brian “the Hack” Hackney or brain-dead Bill “the Corpse who forgot to fall over” Martin.

I can honestly tell you, despite the fact that I watch news everyday, I have no fucking clue who most the male anchors are or what they do.

Don't be throwin shade on Bill Martin!!!! He's cool surfer bro and a truly funny and likeable person. He can't help it that he looks like he's related to Prince Charles.

Now, Ashley, don't even get me started. If you want to really laugh, check out his "rock band" where he croons in all his poofy haired, greasy-faced glory. His eyes almost twinkle as good as Little Richard....

Disulfiram.

So stupid. There seems to be no confusion as to why they don't simply legislate carding everyone for alcohol purchases and restricting alcohol purchases for convictions of crimes w/ alcohol enhancement, just like a gun enhancement. Our legislators are either drunks, or bought off....or both.

I mean, they do have that. Sometimes not being able to consume alcohol is a condition of probation subject to random inspections and testing. That is not some shit that you can expect vendors to enforce though.

:dunno

We enforce it with those perceived to be under the age of 21 though. The system would enhance that by checking all ID's though...which happens at many places now.

Does look like a band of fathers that get together just to jam.

... and yet kids under 21 still find alcohol.

We all did. They still do. The law still stands. It's not going to end alcohol issues, but it may have a positive effect. Of course the legalization of pot did the most to curb underage drinking, so....

In this country, they have to take it them self, almost always a total fail.

A norplant style implant would be HUGE in terms of preventing them from sneaking drinks, it makes total sense, but sometimes things don't make sense in this country and there is always corruption in the background when they don't.

Back to Frank & Fox- I don't see the virtue of placing him on this endless, arbitrary Leave. If they plan to terminate his employment, why not just settle on an amount and part ways or pay him through his contractual end date but he's relieved of duty? Ideas?

Since his arrest the substitute anchors have stopped with the "... in for Frank Somerville" at the intro....

I think they are in a Wait and See mode, it's really up to him to make the decision that he wants to get past this and has the fortitude to do so.

The majority of people who get to this stage never get free of it, there still remains the possibility that he goes through the program, gets clean and stays clean, but as some on here know much better than the rest of us, he's got a hard road ahead of him and one that isn't decided now by a long shot.

Per Rich Lieberman, Frank had heard from his agent that day of his arrest that the agent could not convince any newsroom in the US to hire him.

This could be the reason he went on a bender and crashed his car.

This might be the impetus he needs to check into a long term rehab facility.

Yeah, they went beyond showing us all what a tradition-honoring, talent-trusting employer they are to just making it weird, so, as mentioned, they have finally dropped the modifier at the top of the broadcast.

Bring Ken Wayne back!!!!! I just saw him last night, so way above the talent level at KRON.

Infomercials!
