garage flooring

I want to change the garage flooring on the new house, and wondering what the best options are? It's just your standard concrete right now, but thinking either something overlay (checkerboard?) or paint? Or something else?

I want something durable and light colored. I may even get a bike lift that can move around, so I want something that won't look like crap if scratched up.

Thanks!

I would go for a sealant/treatment. The tiles come up and the self-adhesive ones don't always hold up to solvents etc.

I do the area rug thing as well, but they get pretty nasty pretty fast.

I think I will go epoxy. I am also going to do insulation/drywall and get one of those wifi garage door openers.

The downside with a nice epoxy is you get obsessed with keeping it clean. I built a gym in my garage, and I often train barefoot, which means I need to keep
The floor clean, which is tough this time of year when we have to park the wet car with wet tires in the garage.

Good point. We have house cleaners, and maybe i can make it part of their routine to scrub the garage floor.

Stan's People got "people"

Stan if your going epoxy the best way is to hire a real professional. It's costly but you won't have that shit peel on you in 3 to 5 yrs which often happens. Forget Lowes and HD like
Rustoleum.
The pros get the heavy duty stuff which is not available at those stores. It's all about the prep work.

1. Usually peels at the corners.
2. Hot tires are also bad. People don't realize this. Some people have carpet strips for the tires to rest on.

Hot tires are the enemy. It's also why I suggested polishing.

When I retire, I'm gonna do a high end epoxy floor in the garage of my new house. For now, in my shitty house, I'm using tiles made by SportCourt specifically for garages. IIRC, it cost me about $800 to do a two car garage floor. Eight years old and still looks great.

I'm starting to think that. I don't want to do a questionable job just to re-do it later.
