The request to "go copulate" was probably unnecessary and has landed you in BARF purgatory for 7 days, after a unanimous moderator vote. Please keep in mind our TOS (4.1 in this case) next time you get a little hot under the collar. Protip: We don't monitor PM's to the extent that we do your public posting.

I didn't hit him or go down did I? I already admitted to being wrong on a few levels. You seem to be the arrogant one saying 'Duh' implying that I'm stupid. Fuck off. I'm glad you guys analyzed it, that's why I posted it in the first place. You all made some really good points and I'm glad you got me thinking and questioning about how I ride. Thanks for the views. :thumbup

For the rest of you that aren't on a suspension, let's keep in mind that pissing someone off kinda defeats the purpose if you're trying to get them to take your advice.

He was suspended for saying "Fuck off?"

Oh Man....

When the same thing in the video happens to me I don't bother with the honk. I just let him finish his lane change and move on. Sometimes I even give that driver a wave or head nod to say it's all good.

His Turn signal was on for a good long time giving the rider plenty of warning.

If that was getting cut off then the Titanic blew up on impact.

I just don't care. It was a really minor incident and it humors me that people are getting so worked up. :laughing

I guess I was the one who was butthurt. Sorry.

On a different note, I wonder if arrogance on the road is a bad thing.

VFR may have trolled himself on this thread, but going fast was not a real issue in this case.

Thinking that drivers do not have the right to merge just because you going fast? That could be a problem.

people posting good job for not losing your cool?

he laid into his horn when the driver was not at fault i still say he lost his cool, showed everyone this at work and they all laughed and said wow thats a cut off?

what a troll lol

When you only have 3 months of riding, perhaps that could be considered getting cut off.

I swear the first few weeks I was lane sharing, every car pinched me. EVERY SINGLE CAR DID IT INTENTIONALLY. Now I can look back and believe it was my inexperience that led me to believe that they were doing it intentionally. I'm sure if gopros existed back then, I'd realize that it was more like maintaining lane position or parting of the red sea than pinching.

This reminds me of last night when i was lane splitting through traffic. driving from 5-15mph tops. Scanning every car for signals and sudden movements towards the end of the lane. fingers over my brakes. flashing my pass switch. a lot of cars were very accommodating. it was almost like the parting of the sea. lol

from the video, it doesn't seem like he was cut off by any means. if anything his reaction time was horrendous. from the moment the guy started to change lanes, it took him 2-3 seconds to honk his horn, and another 1 second after that to apply his brakes.

i can't even blame the cage for stopping mid lane change because he probably thought the person honking was someone IN the lane, not between them

@redbull So it's okay to pull out in front of a lane splitting motorcyclist as long as you put on your blinker?
I think not. A blinker is a warning of intent, not a tool to begin a forceful and sudden shift in direction without considering the consequences.

Oh sweet baby jesus, get the sand out ur gina' man.
The van signaled well in advance. You honked and caused the dude to freeze up.
It's called lane sharing, not I'm the king dick of the road get out of my lane sharing.

:twofinger

OP: You want to see what getting "cut off" looks like?

I didn't exactly handle it like a gentleman, but the guy damn near took me out. I already got shit for revving my engine in another thread, if anyone else feels like giving their opinion on the matter, go right ahead. :dunno

OP: If you're going to be splitting lanes during commute times on a regular basis, you have to expect things like this to happen all the time. Practice your panic braking and learn to scan ahead for potential hazards. Learn to look for indications that someone might be merging in front of you:
 • Blinker (DUH)
 • One lane moving faster than another (I try and avoid sharing lanes when this happens)
 • Open gap in one lane means someone from another lane might be looking to fill that gap
 • Car weaving in their lane might indicate they're not paying attention to the road
 • Someone looking into the side mirror or turning their head. Just because they're turning their head or looking in the mirror doesn't automatically mean they see you, approach with caution.
 • Prius
