Glove suggestions

I have some Held Steves with kangaroo palms and fingers. They've lasted through 5 years of all-weather commuting, a trip across the US and back again in the heat of summer, and a trip to the tippy top of Alaska and back in near-constant drenching rain. Several parking-lot drops and a couple low-speed lowsides on dirt in there too.

Bet they could do it again before wearing out.

I've had two pairs of Steves and just love them Current pair have maybe 20k on 'em and are super comfortable, look great, great dexterity and so on. They're my gold standard in terms of the perfect glove for me.

Steves dont' have as much armor as some people like, but they have this Suprotect across pretty much the entire back. This is for impact, but it also serves as insulation. If you have heatet grips these are great - a bit on insulation on the back but thin palms for control and easy transfer for warmth from the grips. I have heated grips and hand guards and can wear mine down to the low mid-forties comfortably.

i have some short revit airvolution gloves that are really nice-berto that's your old k5 in my avatar

No kidding Reese? How's she doing? You gonna be taking her to track this season?

Racer changed their distribution awhile back - dunno if SJ's excellent Road Rider is still with that program - rumor has Racer's wholesaler is now down in Morgan Hill somewhere

as stated above, SF's own Johnson Leathers on Polk has em hanging on the wall [RH side as you walk in]

This is what I have, and I like a lot them with the exception that they wore out before I think they should have:

Doesn't Dainese offer a warranty?

Going though a similar situation with a pair of RS Taichis I bought 7 months ago. They are replacing them for free under warranty... but it's a known defect on the first production run of my particular glove.

Their High Protection glove ($112) might fit the bill for ya:

You guys are gonna laugh, but the best gloves I've had are Ralph Lauren RLX motorcycle gloves (hopefully the image shows up):

I randomly found them at a sample sale, and they've been great. I've had gloves from Teknic, Alpinestars, etc., and after a couple seasons they always had problems, mostly with seams coming apart. The RLX gloves I've had for 5 years, and they're still in great shape and very comfortable. And they're great for the Bay Area climate. Not too thick, not too thin.

You guys are welcome, I had to twist his arm on that one :laughing

My first post was because he relunctantly made me that pair. Just got off the phone with him and he said all of the dozen or so people that have seen them want a pair.

Alex had to threaten prison time unless Helmut made him some new duty gloves. Well done you too!

I should call him before I head out there then.

Btw that's a steal of a price too. Close enough to the other options out there and you get a full custom fit, better protection/durability and support local business to boot. I would pay 300 for those with how much I ride. Picking up my pair on tuesday or Wednesday I'll post up when I do

I went there with the idea and presented it to him, since I need a shorty pair for work and wasn't happy with my options. He was relunctant at first but agreed to make a pair. This was about 2 months ago, just finished and I guess it turned out more popular than he expected for the street riders. I would assume that since he has it listed on his website that he is now supporting the design.

Helimot gloves...mas fina.

1. Helimot
2. Held
3. Everything else
.

Ditto x's 2

Gotta agree here. Helimots are "hands down" the best. My first pair spared me from losing a few parts of my own when I encountered a 300lb buck at highway speed.
Recently got a pair of these, since I couldn't resist them after seeing a pair. Amazing!

My Held gloves are the most comfortable pair I've ever put on. They are the Warm n Dry. Unfortunately they aren't as warm or dry as I'd like them to be. My RS Taichi gloves are very close as far as fit, and they held up really well in a spill on 84. Aplinestars SPX were a great fit for me, but they wore out a little quickly, specifically I wore holes in my shifting fingers. I have a pair of Dainese gloves like the pair in the OP that I like very much. Not quite as comfortable as the Helds, but they do fit very well and don't restrict my thumbs reaching any controls, plus they ventilate decently for the amount of protection they offer.

At Helimot's now. Right now they're not in full production but he's gotten a lot of interest. If you come in, he'll take measurements and have them made for you in about a week or so. If you mail order, then it will take a little longer. w00t!

haha he mentioned that they were originally requested by a police officer. i wonder if you're the one he keeps mimicking and quoting "I need to take my gloves off fast to get to my gun/TicketBook!" :)

Picked up my Helimot shorties today. Felt pretty good on the ride from Fremont to Half Moon Bay. Helmut said it will take a while for it to break in as far as curvature of the glove. I have the strap and logos on my gloves. I'll post later on after breaking gym in but if its anything like all his other gloves, they'll be awesome.
