Goodbye RFR

I will back up 2strokeYardSale. I just read the news today. The new manager is meeting with a few of the big customers to see about a possible summer season. I imagine Zoom Zoom would be on the list.

The SSA Executive Board will be meeting with them shortly. I will let everyone know how it turns out. The new owner already called our VP to try and get it set up.

If it's a go, we will start booking trackdays there asap.

THats the thing with bankrupcy: the track doesn't just dissapear, it effectively goes to the lenders. Reno/Fernley is not economical to run with the interest payments for the construction cost, but it probably IS economical, despite the truely craptacular location, if you don't have to pay for the cost to have built the thing in the first place.

I, and the other members of the SSA Executive Board will be meeting with the new owners Thursday night in Reno. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah, fur sure considering I've done most of my trackdays there. 6 out of my 8 trackdays have been at RFR. Looking to do more. I like the fact that most providers have them on the weekends. It doesn't require me to take time off from the job. BBQ on the weekends are great! The people I meet are great! The bumps on the track aren't as bad as some of the streets that I've rode. At least I know where they are at. I love riding "C" config! It's the shizznit! Who doesn't like the twisties?:ride Rhetorical question Farley, I know the answer.

The new operators are nice guys. One is a NASCAR racer who grew up at Sears Point and racing the west coast circuits, the other is an Indy Cart racer. They have done their homework. It is recognized that facilities and asphalt are the problems at RFR. They would like to address it, but it won't be this year. As already mentioned, they plan on starting operations in April. They are in the process of creating a website with more info. That will be the 'official' word on things.

But just to be honest...there are LOTS of problems facing the new operators that are far too many to get into here. But they will be doing their best to bring RFR up to standards that will attract more riders. But it is going to be a long road so patience is going to be required.

Our wishes are that everyone support their efforts, and continue to come out to RFR and support the track. It only benefits our community to do so.

Thanks everyone for the support you have given. It's still a fight but it's a good fight to be in :teeth
