The girlfriend upgraded my video recording "system" (if you can call it that) by giving me the GoPro Motorsport Hero Wide video system for Christmas. I'll be using it mainly with my friends during track days, but I decided to do test runs on it so I took it out to Altamont Pass today.

When you embed a video, if you add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL, it will force it to play in high quality.

Really nice video.

EDIT: Damn. That is a seriously downgraded quality for a video. Thank you YouTube. :thumbdown

dude, very cool video. It was very intersting coming across this for a few reasons. Ive been rarely on barf lately and its nice to catch videos of friends riding :thumbup

secondly, the song of choice for your video was actually off a cd i had purchased about 4 years ago. DJ quick or something like that? totally bad ass. anyway dennis hope you have a good new year buddy. Good review

Really nice video.

Sweet. I'll have to try that and edit the video above when I get home. Can't see YouTube right now at work, so I wouldn't know if it worked if I did it right now. :laughing

I'll try and remember when I get home. I have to check how big the file is. I might host it temporarily so you can download it. I'll let you know. :thumbup

Beautiful job making that vid!!! I really like the way you transition setting up the diff angles and switch between them on the ride.:applause

I've been on the fence about buying the Hero, I may break down and grab one now. For ease of use, size and cost, they are a great little camera and capture some nice vids!

What size is the file? That is actually pretty good in high quality for youtube. What program did you use to edit it?

My Go Pro Wide arrived yesterday, but I can't test it till the weekend. I ride to work and home in the dark, and as stated the camera doesn't like the dark, or isn't meant for it. 2 Gig Memory Card came with it, just need to get a few more cards for ample track weekends, and the recommended batteries, and I'm good to go. :thumbup

First trip will be to the hilltop overlooking The Golden Gate Bridge, looking towards the city. Sunday. :ride

The dog is irritated by the red flashing light on the camera when in video mode, so I'll have to keep him clear of the camera and attachments. :rolleyes

Overall first impression is it's very small, very light, and compact. The mounting pieces are sturdy, yet compact, and ample adhesive mounting pads come with the kit. Huge suction cup, and window tested my myself, it shouldn't budge, as it's a little tough to remove from the surface it's adhered to.

Can't wait to give this a try.

Been fiddling with it for the past few days, and wanted to leave work early to test the evening views crossing the bay bridge, but night fell before I could leave. Turned it on anyways for a night ride, mounted to the front headlight, and got some street footage on the way home. Not too good of a night camera, and still messing with the sound.

Camera volume set to LO.

Biggest issue I've had with it, is finally understanding that the flashing light means recording, just like on a normal camera, and when you turn the camera on, it's already set to video. Scrolling through the options, back to video, then it got a little confusing on when it's on, and when it's off. Typical non-tech that I am. Trial and error will eventually works out in the end.

A few still shots from the camera on my short morning . . .

Hand Held Shot

Timer Shot Could have been a little closer.

Finally, some still shots.

First shot isn't too bad, but the second one looks about on par with a cell phone camera.
