GoPro Hero Wide camera test

Just ordered a bunch of Lithium Batteries. :thumbup

Seeing on how the 2GB card only holds about an hour of recording, would the 4GB and 8GB cards work in the same slot as the 2GB, and be better than buying a bunch or just 4 2GB cards?

My Go Pro has feedback when recording on HI, no matter where I have it mounted. On LO it's fine. Is anyone else having this issue?

In Users Manual, it states that the cover on the clear box, where the lense sits, can be removed while recording to allow more sound to the mic. I might give this a try in the LO setting, but not in the HI setting, as it already picks up too much.

Any comments?

Mine stays in LO if there's even a hint of a wind when I use it (motorcycling, snowboarding, etc.), or whenever I mount it to something that's moving.

Maybe I'll set it to HI when I use it underwater, MAYBE.

Hey Corey, mine is one the way and I just ordered my 2GB cards. I've read on other sites, and here on BARF that the max card size that the camera can accept is 2GB. Kind of lame but the cards are so cheap nowadays it's not a huge problem.

Thanks. That information I was looking for. Wonder why the bigger cards won't work? They will fit in the slot, right? This is the tech part I'm not good with. Better with mechanical stuff. I'll be searching for good deals on extra memory cards. Ebay seems to have them pretty cheap, and name brand as well. Just scored 10, 4-packs of Energizer AAA Advanced Lithium Batteries for $20.00 shipped. Looks like I'll be set for a while on batteries. Go Pro recommends the Lithium Energizer over the NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, but both are recommended.

Yeah it's a dumb technical limitation, kind of like my cell phone only accepts up to 4GB SD cards. Thanks for the info on getting batteries on ebay, I never thought of that, did you buy it via a Buy It Now option or did you have to bid?

Can any one tell me if the Gopro is as good as there Motocomm camera < i have the Motocomm , what I want too know is it worth the change too buy the Gopro . Other than the Motocomm has too have a battery pack that is not part of the camera it's self .

An informative quote from a Go Pro e-mail about memory card useage and size:

"We're currently working on a firmware upgrade for the 5mp HERO cameras to support the 4GB SD cards and hope to have it available for download from our website within the next month. You can go to our website and sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it is released. Right now the camera can not save any files over 2GB, so if you are using a higher capacity card and don't stop recording before 56 minutes all will be lost."
