Great Albums.

I need to get that album, it reminded me to add Kill Em All to my list of great albums, another pivital album in metal!

Saw Slayer at the, "Clash of the Titans" tour in 91ish, and they killed it! Probably the height of popularity for thrash metal in the U.S., Anthrax was extemely good as well, Megadeath was meh, but Alice in Chains surprisingly put on the best performance of all, especially since I was predisposed to Boo them off the stage for not being Thrash.

I like Alice in Chains, but not that much. And certainly not enough to stand and watch them when Anthrax or Slayer could be playing :rofl

Saw Slayer quite a few times over the years in various incarnations with a multitude of different acts. The pits at those shows were always so brutal! I took up crowd surfing to escape from Slayer pits when I got tired, which was quickly and often :laughing

I like Show no Mercy and Seasons better, but Reign got way more play time :laughing South of Heaven is probably my favorite album by Slayer.

When I was a teenager in the early 90's, I was on a great quest to try and locate a copy of the rare Show No Mercy edition that had Aggressive Perfector on it. It was the only Slayer song I didn't have at the time. When Napster showed up in the late 90's and I was able to download a copy, I felt robbed of a great journey into hell. :laughing

I had some version of Reign in Blood that had and instrumental version of Aggressive Perfector tacked on the end. I want to say it was a Japanese import

George Carlin- Class Clown

Nirvana- MTV Unplugged in New York

The Beatles- Abbey Road

Lenny Kravitz- 5

The Who- Tommy

Dr Dre- The Chronic

Slayer didn't really put out a bad album until after Decade of Aggression and they started having conflicts with the drummer, Dave Lombardo.

Hell Awaits sags in a few spots to my ear, but Reign is damn near perfect. My favorites have always been South of Heaven and Seasons tho.

Aww geez I just realized another perfect album and it's one of my favorites: Alice in Chains: Jar of Flies. Sure, it's only 7 songs, but they wrote and recorded it in a week and it's pretty much perfect.

Didn't see Slayer live until a few years ago when they played at The Fox in Oakland. I'm old now and watched from three back. Great show though.

Post Decade' Slayer isn't bad imo, but it for sure misses the mark.

I've seen Slayer probably 10 times. Bostaph era Slayer shows were still amazing. I was lucky enough to see them at the Warfield on the Still Reigning tour when they performed Reign in Blood in it's entirety for the subsequent DVD release. The last time I saw them was at the Cow Palace with Testament and Megadeth. It was shortly after Jeff Hanneman (RIP) returned from his ordeal with necrotizing fasciitis. They played Seasons in it's entirety and was the first time I'd ever seen them play Skeletons of Society live. I'll never forget that!

Yeah, they were probably like 70 years old when you went to that show?

Past 50, I think you better skip the wire work, Bub.

:laughing

I'm not supposed to encourage you, but you're hilarious.

This geezer NEVER EVER EVER got the Kiss thing. But Simmons, like Howard Stern, reminds of an old Long Island dentist with a wig.

SAYS WHO? I am hilarious. :teeth

My general rule is to fuck right off any music that happened between 1960 and 1980 with the exception of motown, which was cool, but I tried to give KISS a shot due to the hype. They just weren't that good of a band.

They had a couple of good tracks, "Rock & Roll All Nite," is a fucking classic, but most of it seemed pretty mediocre both technically and artistically.

Even other shock rock image types like Alice Cooper or Marilyn Manson seemed to me to do a better job of presenting a more comprehensive vision of the shock product they were trying to sell.

Well, I mean, KISS did a lot of albums in the 80's, but they are a fucking 70's Band. It isn't about like, a certain cut off date per se, but rather what the vibe from the group was, what their scene is about.

I have never really understood the appeal of Rush, they are from the heart of the unacceptable era, but they seem to be a really technically proficient guitar band, so I guess that is kind of cool?

They were also a really technically proficient drums/percussion band as well. :x

That general rule would eliminate 100 percent of proto punk, ~95 percent of good punk rock, and most of the decent prog rock, kraut rock, and blues artists like Howlin' Wolf. That's not a world that I'd want to listen to.
