Honda Ridgeline unveiled next month

You know what...that chop of a Pilot actually looks cooler than the actual 2017 Ridgeline. I'm not kidding.

So they took the guys that were ruining Honda bikes for years and moved them to the truck division.... :laughing

Now I have even more curiosity about how it's going to look.

1-2 out of every 10 vehicles that comes off the line are so grossly fucked up from build/paint quality issues, they get quarantined and have to be fixed before they can even leave the factory.

You go Honda! Fix it before you sell it, way to go. :thumbup

If that were a Chevy, Ford or Dodge plant, the messed-up auto would not be repaired...it would be pulled off the line and forced upon the military because government contracts. :mad :p

I was just at the Lincoln, AL plant a few months ago. I'm not sure if I'd be so proud to work at Honda's worst quality control plant in the entire company.

I saw a line of out of market Odysseys ready to ship and saw a massive door gap on one. Pointed it out to one of the plant department managers who quickly knew the spec was "no more than 8mm there" and pulls out a ruler, measures 8.5mm...says "meh that's good enough."

More proof that Deming's principles of quality were only implemented in Japan, not here :laughing

Whats with the clunky ride from the RDX and MDX?
I didn't notice in the beginning but now notice on every bump. I notice it in 2013-2016 RDX seemingly coming from the front as if something is loose and just last week drove a 2016 MDX and notice a similar sound coming from the rear.
Its there on even small bumps that are silent with other vehicles. They're nice machines but that suspension noise is driving me nuts.

If that were the case, then Honda's many other plants here in America would be just as bad.

Honda still makes dead reliable engines right. The majority of them, even for vehicles used in other plants, are assembled in Anna, OH. They make over 1M engine assemblies a year there and have the highest initial quality percentage out of any plant anywhere.

Granted....robots do damn near all of the work there. But still.

Shit rear shocks in the MDX. They still haven't come up with a fix for it either.

Whatever you hear in the RDX is some kind of rare anomaly. The RDX is actually a banner vehicle for Honda quality.

10%? More like only 1%, I'm guessing.

Americans are kidding themselves.

It's stupid to even bring up though, most people don't NEED a car period.

We know most people don't NEED these things, but it's their money so who cares.

It's ironic that this is all coming from someone that drives a Tacoma. Which is a vehicle that the only thing it does better than a full size truck is fit in a parking space.

I drove 2 different 2016 RDXs and the noise was the same in both. There's a lot I like about the car except for that noise. Almost like loose ball joints but that can't be the case with a new car. Also not impressed with the front seats. I like how low they can go and the shape but the seat part you sit on is too short and too ferm. Seats in the MDX are so much nicer.
But that noise is now starting to annoy the crap out of me.

:wave

My tacoma got me through some hairy trails. It was totally my compensation rig. Compensating for my lack of skills by being perfect off road. I could effortlessly and fearlessly drive over and through anything in it. It had the scratches and dents to prove it, too. Quad trail? Pfft..let's see where this goes.

If the diesel taco ever comes here, I might bite the bullet on one..

I just wish that companies wouldn't take an "all or nothing" approach to luxury features in a car/truck. Like, just because I want the navigation system and heated seats doesn't mean I want a bunch of chrome all over the outside, a moonroof, 2013485-way power seats, etc. Literally just heated seats, navigation, and bluetooth and I'm happy. But heated seats means going to leather, leather means getting the power and memory functions, nav/bluetooth means upgrading all the keyless entry and 5 extra vehicle cameras to show you the sides of the vehicle for people who have trouble looking out their windows, etc.

Yes I've been in more modern trucks, and yes they can ride softly like a car, but they still can't handle. You aren't going to be tossing them around anywhere.

Biggest problem with a "real" truck is its solid axle. I don't care how much work you do to it, that design will never feel like an independent suspension. A bump experienced by one wheel will transfer some of the impact over to the other wheel. You get that "neck jerking" sensation. Plus that whole "axle hop" bullshit. Oh and some trucks even get knocked off-line over bumps in a bumpy corner.

I don't know if the Fords/GMs ever switched to do anything about this, but the Dodge Ram 1500 as of 2009 has a multi-link coil spring rear suspension. Rides very smooth even with a bike and gear in the back, you don't even notice you have a load.

Hmmm. I'd be interested in hearing that one.

What did you think about the colour options?

Pete, usually this is an efficiency item at the manufacturer plants. It's cheaper to do the packages for them than do individual builds. IOW, it'd be more expensive for the pick and choose items you'd want than the whole package. That and they make high margin with the packages...

I love having Rob's info in these threads...BARF wins again!

They come in white, black, & charcoal. Either one of those colors would be fine for me. Not interested in blue or green or red or yellow.

You'd be surprised but the RDX is surprisingly sporty. As far as the suspension noise, its level of annoyance is like knowing a thread is hanging from your jacket. You can ignore it and everything is fine but knowing its there forces you to pay more attention than you should. And you know it's probably never going to break down.

I'm doing them a public service, by informing them that they could drive something sportier during the 99% of the time they don't need a full-size truck. :laughing Shit, just buy an old beater truck for $4-5K as your 2nd or 3rd vehicle, and drive a car 99% of the time. We all know that most of you have multiple vehicles already. :dunno

BTW I don't have a Tacoma, they're overpriced because of all the "bros" thinking they're the greatest thing since sliced bread.

As for parking, you don't think easier parking is an advantage? Parking a full-size truck isn't easy in some lots. Plus the bigger it is, the less you can toss it around. I grew up driving small cars and tossing them around.

I have a work f-150 that I can use for whatever I want but I never take it downtown. The backup camera make it a lot easier to park than without but you still need to find a spot where it will fit and thats more annoyance than I want to deal with.
But I also don't like the feeling in a car of sitting at road level and the while world passing by overhead.

Wasn't directed at you. Yes, parking is an advantage, however, consider how much time you actually spend parking vs actually driving. It's nice to fit in a real tight spot, but it's down there on the list of things I care about when purchasing a vehicle. The exception is duallies, zero good reason to own one :laughing
