Is chivalry really dead?

Only on BARF can a thread about treating people well turn into not treating people well

Sorry if the graphic detail was upsetting, but people were reacting to the 'rules' of chivalry back then, I was putting things in perspective on the absolute fact that it was a completely different time than now. The original 'rules' for chivalry are not applicable, that was then, this is now.

thanks so much. my apologies for going off on you. i just don’t know why we needed to go from discussing whether current society lacks courtesy (as opposed to what courteous behavior used to mean for prior generations), to graphic descriptions of torture.

littlebeast apparently only condones talk of graphic violence if it's in relation to her children's hypothetical attackers.

Other cases can fuck straight the hell off.

i seriously doubt you can provide a quote where i either advocated or described sexual torture in graphic detail, for any reason, but if you can, i will apologize profusely. if not, then i will continue to write off your response as misunderstanding what i found so unnecessary and offensive.

With my generation, opening doors for women was just a fact. Now, granted, a portion of the male population viewed women as the 'weaker' sex, not only in body strength, but that wasn't shared by all.

Absolutely, categorically untrue. I know we're about the same age and to pretend it was common 'when we were younger' is complete and utter bullshit.

And 'a portion of the male population viewed women as weak...' has been around forever.
The percentage may be slightly higher now, but please don't act like it was a standard practice for all high schoolers to hold doors for people in the eighties because it wasn't.
Or immediately after high school.
Or the years since.

Some people are considerate, and some are not.

Clarly we grew up in different places.

p.s. It's rude to tell somebody that they are full of Bullshit. Further proof that we grew up in different areas and among different people.

:laughing

Even when they spew bullshit?

With my generation, opening doors for women was just a fact.

Makes me laugh every time I read it. :thumbup

Also, I didn't say you were full of bullshit. The claim you make is bullshit, however.

As I said, we must have grown up in different areas.

Just because you didn't experience the same thing doesn't invalidate my experiences. It takes a special kind of asshole to assume that their experiences negate everybody else's. :afm199

Pretty sure you just violated TOS, bruh. :thumbup

Also please, please point out where I negated your experience by denying that "our generation" was truly chivalrous? By explaining that everyone most certainly did NOT act chivalrous is not at all negating your past. It's pointing out that your blanket statement is incorrect.

I have no doubt that was your intent, but it appears that reading comprehension (lack of) can be added to your sins.

As I stated, my experiences were obviously different from yours. Not sure where you grew up. You seem to think it was in the center of the universe. :laughing

You stated : With my generation, opening doors for women was just a fact.

That is completely and incontrovertibly incorrect. Tell me what part I read incorrectly. Please.
The part where you speak for an entire generation of people from all walks of life?
The part where you said it was a fact?
Which part did I misread?

And again, you talk shit with a lie. Quote my statement where I act like my experience is the center of the universe...you can't because the entire time I've been showing that you simply cannot speak for 'your' generation.

And straight up resorting to name calling. Weak. :rofl

Climber: "Everyone born before 1970 held the doors open for everyone all the time."

Me: "Bullshit, not everyone held the doors open all the time where I grew up and I was born before 1970. You can't make blanket statements like that and pretend we grew up with chivalry as the norm."

Climber: "STOP TELLING ME I DIDN'T HOLD A DOOR OPEN"

Me: :nchantr

So then I can assume you cannot back up anything you've thrown at me?
Just talking shit? Cool. :thumbup

Geeeeez....just stop. It's painful to read, gents.

Also, mods are reviewing posts in this thread. I hate to see it go there--over a thread on chivalry. The irony is a little humorous actually. :laughing

C'mon...go play elsewhere and cool off, guys.
