The scene:
O'Farrell St. motorcycle parking at Market and Kearny, Thursday 4/29 afternoon sometime between 4:30 and 5:40 pm.

The bike:
My red Ducati Monster, parked on the eastmost end of the legal parking. Also featuring a light blue Vespa.

The plot:
I returned to my bike to find an unsigned note taped to the tank informing me that some JERK in a Jeep Cherokee had knocked over my bike and driven off, plate # 5T74805.

My bike had been picked up :love (thank you!). Damage would have been much worse except that it landed on a brand new Vespa.

The question:
Who left the note?!! Are there any other witnesses?! Step forward and receive the accolades of everyone on BARF for doing the right thing!

Gah! Without name and contact info you don't really have a witness. :(

Bravo to the Vespa, for taking one for the team.

See, scooters are good for something!

True but the number plate is all that he has!

this reminds me of an old joke...

'A lawyer returns to his parked BMW to find the headlights broken and considerable damage to the bonnet. There`s no sign of the offending vehicle but he`s relieved to see that there`s a note stuck under the windshield wiper.
"Sorry. I just backed into your Beemer. The witnesses who saw the accident are nodding and smiling at me because they think I`m leaving my name, address and other particulars. But I`m not. Cya!" '

Can be the case

or they wrote down their ex's license number or a co-worker they hate :p

However, with the plate and the insurance company wanting to pursue it, there might very well be enough paint transfer for the insurance company to go after the vehicle's owner.

That is so fucked up. You should find this Jeep driving yuppie bitch and make them feel the long dick of the law and higher insurance costs. Fuckers.

Yeah, but the JERK in the Jeep doesn't know there's no witness.

Exactly. All Geico has to say is, "Joe Blow saw you, and took your plate." Asswipe then invariably incriminates self.

I do this to my daughter all the time.
Me: Did you knock over the vase?
Her: No
Me: Stick out your tongue. (examines tongue) We both know your lying.
Her: <sniffle> yeah, I did.
Me: No further questions. Remanded to bedroom for lying.
