Kawasaki ZX-14 World's Fastest bike???

one problem with that article that I just found, the last paragraph says 0 to 180 in 10 seconds

Who f*ing cares! It takes no skill whatsoever to go 186 MPH. Just twist the throttle and hang on for dear life.

wow sonic I never thought you would go off like that, the drive to the bay and back must be getting to you :)

::teeth That was in jest my Busa Brutha. I'm saving my pocket change for the '08 Busa which will no doubt be even quicker and faster...OK maybe the '09 so all the bugs get worked out :laughing .

I would hope it is faster once you derestrict it, it is 100 cc's bigger

Just being nit-picky here.....but the zx14 is actually only 53cc bigger. The name is 100cc bigger but the motor is actually 1352cc's. While it is "quicker" (just to keep the "faster" term out of this) than the Busa (during the press release journalists were running 9.79 1/4 miles....BONE STOCK..and the Kawi people would not even let them strap the front suspension down....oh yeah, and that was at 3000 feet!!) they are both sooooo fuckin fast it really will only matter for the amateur drag racers and bragging rights at your local watering hole!

Just like the rest, it will come down to rider ability, nothing more, nothing less. The better rider will win.

whatever, my Busa is faster than the speed of sound, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, able to bend steel rounds with its bare tires, look up in the air, it's a plane, its a falcon, NO it is super Busa :laughing

For you, it will be more like, "look in front", as I get further and further out of your sight!

too bad the word hayabusa refers to a japanese falcon and not a mantis :p

The word hayabusa means is Japanese for peregrin falcon. You will find these little birds of prey all over the planet. The little guys are the fastest animals on the planet by the way it hunts its prey. It goes up and than goes into a freefall and divebombs on the prey. There is the speculation that Suzuki named it Hayabusa because the previous owner of the top speed record was Honda's Blackhawk and the peregrin falcon is a natural predator of the blackhawk in the bird world.

Also, the Hayabusa name for a vehicle was originally named for the Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa, an Imperial Japanese fighter plane that dominated the skies of Southeast Asia during the beginning part of WWII.

Who cares? It's ugly.

It's not like the Hayabusa is looker either, but damn, wtf was Kawi smoking? Yeah yeah, so it's aerodynamic. But so are the MotoGP bikes and they don't look like they are styled by a retarded art school dropout tripping on LSD. As soon as the new Hayabusa drops the ZX-14's are going to stack up at the dealerships, unloved and unsold.

I don't know- those clutches seem to be bulletproof, and the drag racers are snatching them up according to drag bike dot com.

I would seriously like to test ride both in one day if I were going to make a buying decision- and so far, they seem the best thing for sport touring right now- I especially like Pashnit's write up on the busa

its not the fastest it may be the quickest its only going to do 186 it may get there quicker. but whats the point unless you want to buy one for the poser status there is no way you can use any liter and larger bike to its full capability on the street and only a handful of people in the country can use one to its full potential on the track. the whole issue is really a moot point for street riders. the drag strip is the only place most mortals have a chance of using all that power.

Hey guys nice article but not really factual as some of you have pointed out here. Cant we all just get along LOL. So on a more serious note have any of you had your bike on the dyno for real and what did you make. I saw one article about I cant remember who putting some bolt ons power commander etc and going from 160 HP to 190... I am being serious here please dont see this as a bad post but 30 HP with bolt ons has to be the best improvment ever in the history of motorcycles. What have you guys seen for real.

the only change on my '02 Busa is a "tre", and mine dyno'ed at 160.5 horsepower.

I just like it as a sport tourer, not as a 186 MPH fast quarter ET bike. I mean, it has a fuel mileage gauge on the dash, what does that tell you?

I want one for sport touring, just like how I used to want a 'Bus or 1100XX for that same purpose.
