Kawasaki ZX-14 World's Fastest bike???

I mean, it has a fuel mileage gauge on the dash, what does that tell you?

It tells you how much fuel you have left, your mpg, and distance to empty.

I just like it as a sport tourer, not as a 186 MPH fast quarter ET bike. I mean, it has a fuel mileage gauge on the dash, what does that tell you?

I want one for sport touring, just like how I used to want a 'Bus or 1100XX for that same purpose.

stock motor busa, pipe PCII, TRE and airbox mod, 168HP and 101lb tq

the XX hasn't been the fastest since 98, but it's still the best looking. :p

it's a trade off of a little top speed and some acceleration in favor of comfort and "smoothness".

the day i'm doing 175mph and thinking to myself "damn, i wish this thing could go faster" is the day i'll get a busa/zx-14. :laughing

speaking of aliens:laughing never cared for the looks of the busa the new 14 isnt the best look bike out thier, but it looks good, would rather be caught riding it that than the busa. Eathier way both bikes are too much for me(and most people for that matter).
everyone knows the ZX12R's are faster AND better looking than the Busa's!

And talk about butt ugly...see, now here is a good looking bike!

even Kawasaki admits the 12R wasn't faster than the Busa, that is why they made the 14 and no longer make the 12. but if you want to believe your 12 is faster than you go right ahead :laughing

Its interesting that the busa guys brag about their bikes being [slightly] faster than the ZX12R. They rarely mention the 100cc advantage the busa had over the ZX12R even though the power and speed/acceleration difference was very minimal.

On the other hand, I have heard many times that the ZX14 "should" be faster since it has a bigger (50cc) engine and the actual difference in speed/acceleration is only minimal.

Do you ever plan on taking your bike to the dragstrip, just to see how you can do?

Don't know why Kawasaki short changed the 14, but they have always done that, even with my 1983 GPZ 750, it was really a 738 when at the time everyone else's 750 was a 749. My zx11 was really a 1052, go figure???

I really doubt my bike will ever see the track. I bought it as a sport touring bike (although I will probably keep making performance improvements).

I don't think of the ZX14 as a short-changed 14. I think of it as an overacheiving 13 :)

i think in order to earn bragging rights on the top speed of your bike vs. competitors, you need to have actually taken your bike at least 1mph above the top speed of the rival bike. otherwise it's just stats and you might as well just get a t-shirt or join a fan club or something... instead of acting like you're actually gonna see speeds like that in your lifetime. :p

You doubt it will ever see the track but will keep making performace improvements??? Would be nice to see one at the track. But then again, never saw too many 12's there either. They did not last long. Fast bikes, but few willing to go through the headache with them, (frame, clutch) when the Busa was a much easier piece to work with. Not trying to put you down, just stating what I have seen

I bought the ZX14 because I liked the machine. The "bragging rights" mean nothing to me. I don't ride for ego reasons. I just like the machines.

As I stated, it will probably never see the track. I will continue to make performance improvements because there is nothing else I want to do with my money (can't take it with you) and I like to work on bikes. I'm a K-Tech (Kawaski) and FAST (Suzuki) certified mech. Now that I have a non-motorcycle related career, the only time I get to work on bikes is when they are my own :)

Cool, just for kicks you should take it to the track once. A lot of people get hooked after one visit. Have fun.

Hey Travis, one word for you Bro, TURBO!!!! :cool :burnout

Seriously how cool would a zx14 turbo streetfighter be? I dont thinmk the 14 or a busa would ever be a fun track day bike but hot damn they both make great hooligan bikes.

FIXED :teeth

In real life, it was not close at all. What was close was the difference between the CBR1100XX and the ZX11. That was close!
