Keto anyone?

SO cheese is Keto friendly huh? Eating it with a salty cracker is obviously not, but I can probably get by on cheese and cured meats alone. Mmmm prosciutto.

Yeah, usually when I am in the first few weeks and ramping up for this, cold cuts wrapped around spears of decent cheese is nearly all I eat.

They have keto crackers at Costco. I forget the brand. I’ll take a picture tomorrow. Tastes pretty good too.

Been doing IF for around three years and my weight hasn’t dropped all that much, stuck between 195-200 for a couple of years now.

I did Keto about two years ago and loved it. Then I modified it, then I quit it because, well, life. I am ready to get back into a low carb lifestyle again. I don’t know if I will go full blown keto but I might. I also enjoy IF. I moved an am on leave right now and need to see how my new office operates to get a good idea of my eating timeframe.

I love how I feel, I sleep better, I have more energy, and my joints don’t hurt. I can feel when I have lacked in discipline and need to reign things in.

We had a really good Keto cookbook to give us ideas, used the Reddit threads which provided great suggestions, and found lots of really good recipes online.

One thing was that while I loved being on keto, my spouse did not do well. Constantly missing the veggies, always lightheaded, and the first time felt awful for the first 2-3 weeks. I barely got a headache. What works well for some, doesn’t for others.

Good luck in finding what works for you!

You're body can good at adapting to whatever you do, if you're plateauing you might want to shake things up for a week or two. or fast for 4-5 days

Do they work? I got some of those last time I was training and they were a lie, consumption resulted in significant immediate blood glucose spikes.

Some of those Almond Flour low Carb Keto breads are a real life saver when you have stabilized after the first month or so, but some are a con.

The hardest thing for me on this program is texture monotony. Just being able to eat something dry and crunchy becomes a weird urge for me.

Nuts. I eat a fuck ton of nuts. Trader Joe's has the best price and selection of Walnuts, Almonds and Pistachios and more. I feel you on needing something crunchy and salty to snack on. Tree nuts are my go to.

Keto is practically a brand name these days and if it's on a package for marketing purposes be very suspicious. ya gots to read the ingredients and nutrition info

i think the calorie count is roughly the same for milk vs soda for liquid vol but obviously milk has some more nutrients than soda. The fat content increases the calorie content to make it on par with soda and the fact that your body will prefer to burn the carbs vs fat means the milk fat goes into storage and unless you burn all the sugar energy from the milk the remaining calories form the milk sugars also go into fat storage.

It’s more complex than that.

Generally, all ingested fat is stored before being burned. If I’m not mistaken, MCT oils get burned more readily than other fats.

Don’t be fooled thinking all sugar always gets burned. It gets stored as fat, too.

The protein in the milk plus a little fat make it superior to plain old soda, IMO. The fat and protein slow down the sugar absorption/spike. But for losing body weight, minimize all drinks with calories.

Yeah you really have to read the nutrition facts and then double check serving sizes. This goes for recipes too. Some thing sound good like a pizza with only 5 carbs but then you read that it's per slice and who eats just one slice lol. There are very few packaged or frozen foods Im consuming, 95% of what I'm eating now is home cooked.

Down to 225 this morning, lab coat fits much nicer now. it was starting to get to the button popping threshold before lol. I started the diet at 245 and I'm sure a good 10pouinds of it were probably water weight, but getting some progress is nice.

I WANT DRY AND CRUNCHY!!!

You can get dry and crunchy, you're options are just a bit limited. you like pork rinds? There are a bunch of recipes and alternatives for your cravings.

Those are okish once you have stabilized, but still have a lot of carbs. Walnuts are the least carb rich, but even those have like 13 per 100 grams.

Yeah, the water weight all comes back when you switch back. I never really eat chips or Chicharrones, but that is probably a good idea.

24 hours is no problem, actually just now eating for the first time since yesterday. But I would be astounded if I could go 4-5 days without food.
Thing is people are surprised when I say I weigh 200, they think I look around 165 - 170

I fast for body cleansing purposes occasionally, but I never do more than 3 days without food. 5 seems like an awful lot.
