Lightning Strike e-bike

I'd prefer doing like the Japanese manufacturers where they sell you the bike and will accept returns within 24 hours. I'm buying it for a 160 mile loop and have been traumatized by the other manufacturers, so here's hoping.

I’d think they do that.
Though... Once I had ridden an Alta for a half hour, there was no going back.

I do still ride three (3) ICE bikes, though the TMRacing 250 2T is getting dusty.

I know it's a lot of liability but I wouldn't want to buy a bike I have never ridden at least a brand new one. I mean most cars cost as much as a superbike nowadays.

The Empulse I had actually ridden before I bought it but it was like a deal I couldn't refuse =P That's why I go to demorides. But yeah it's a you break it you buy it deal. I know SF Moto they have you put a credit card deposit on hold before you ride the bike.

I have never crashed a demo bike except a pretty Beta 500RS shhh but they were cool with it.... I'm sure Alta knew their demo bikes would potentially get a thrashing.

Dude? You crashed a demo bike? Do tell.

It was during one of the Yosemite Dual Sport Adventure Rides. Beta of Modesto was one of the sponsors and they were letting people take the Beta 500RS for rides. Haha I remember the owner saying it's not like your DR650. Haha it sure wasn't it was very much like a dirtbike. It wasn't a like a legit demo ride I didn't sign an kinds of papers or anything very informal. Just here's the bike have fun.

So I took it for a ride and I took it to one of the forest roads that we rode earlier. I was coming into a turn and there was a small rock pile. Front washes out and I biff it good. Like the bike just slips out from under and I go flying (high side). The bike is a little rashed up handguard moved a bit. I tried to straight it out best I could and kept on riding. It was a pretty bad fall. I take it back and I told em I dumped it and he was cool about it and said "It's ok it happens." Haha I'm thinking ok well whatever but I did feel really bad about it. I think he think I just tipped it over or something but it was a legit crash. It was a nice Beta that they had been riding for the event.

For what it's worth it was a sweet bike, lots of power even at 2000ft+ elevation. It had great suspension, it would hop in an out of ruts with ease. I wouldn't mind having one. I got to ride norcalslowpoke's Beta in Baja at the beach and it was pretty sweet riding it in the sand it was so stable and easy to ride. If I was going to buy a non Japanese dualsport BETA!

So... did anyone on BARF preorder one of these?

I think July was the given timeframe for first deliveries.

Nope, I don't have faith in the company. The specs sound really fishy(a 5KWH increase is only a 10 pound penalty?). I wouldn't touch the company with a 10ft pole. Their glassdoor doesn't make the company sound too stable either.

They said they would be "on track" to deliver the Carbon editions in July. If they are late a few weeks i wouldn't fault them for that. Shit happens. I will be very eager to see the final and delivered specs of these machines and see what the actual quality is of production units. I'm prepared to be wrong. In fact I hope I am because competition benefits the consumers.

Given what I saw in the manufacturing area on Saturday I think they are on track. Amazing really.

They have other things that appear to be well thought out and cool stuff in development.

I think you will see a Strike delivered very soon.

I wanted one, but it looks like the 20 kWh Energica with Traction Control and ABS will be out before the Lightning Strike. First year of Lightning Strike won't have ABS or traction control.

Here's some pix I took of the Strike at the event. Looks very much like a complete bike, didn't get to see them fire it up though. You can find more pix at the Social Gatherings thread:
