Low Cost Custom Racer

That might be cool.

Seems unlikely there would be a spec class without the bike manufacturer being heavily involved in it though. And I can't see Honda cozying up to AMA right now unless AMA came to them cup in hand and offered a bunch of concessions in the other classes as well which also seems unlikely.

Money makes you forget some things :teeth

Speaking from experience, but "low cost" and "custom racer" really don't belong in the same sentence. :laughing Also, I doubt the AFM would go for a claiming rule in this or any other class, since historically they don't work very well.
.

If you have $20k worth of tools and machinery it's in the same sentence. That just leaves out 95% of the AFM.

We need more racers, not bikes. There are plenty of cheap race bikes out there. Fuck I have two SV's for under $4k with built motors shocks, forks, the whole nine yards.

just to answer the comment about potential new class and changes for 2014 afm:

the gist of the proposal that passed the rules committee was to effectively dissolve f-singles and also to the allow them to run in F2. the displacement currently allowed in F3 was changed to allow the 450 singles.

This still has to be voted and approved by the board of directors. This vote will take place at the next BoD meeting in december.

as far as cheap race bikes with a plethora of cheap parts available, you cant beat a SV or the 450 qripples that we've been building. bought and built for $3500 or less, and are both reliable and competitive.

You mean FIII correct? NOT FII

you guys know that there are f-singles racers with bikes over 450cc, right? where do you plan on putting them if you are moving f-singles to F2 and capping them at 450cc?

i just checked out the race result info from a couple of the races from last year, but there appears to be a 10+ second/lap delta for the fast guys in the 2 classes. heck, in some cases the fastest f-singles racer was several seconds off the pace of the slowest F2 racer.

racing my SM in the AFM just became a whole lot less appealing. :x

Wait for Duh_ Ave's response. I am sure he will correct and clarify. My understanding is that Formula Singles will be folded into FIII.Be patient and bring your Single out :)

Ok, I'll bite, what is the wording of the new proposed rule?

The new rules require you to sign up for next year, buy your bike, prep it and have it inspected, and then you will be told whether or not you are eligible to race it. If not, you will be fined the amount you would have spent on entry fees to make it fair for everyone.

So the AFM is using AMA rules? :laughing
