Right from afm forums ;)

"We decided since Bay Area Riders Forum has a broader audience than just the viewers on the AFM site and most of our members are already part of BARF, it made more sense to have our members support BARF as well as the AFM in one central location.

Visit BARF for the latest AFM Forum news."

who is/ was "we"?

While not 100% of the replies, I am surprised by the amount of negative responses towards the idea of a 450 cc GP bike.

no point in swimming against the tide

:laughing Just build one and bring it to the races. You'll have fun. If you expect a forum full of racers who spend as much as afm racers to have any interest in YOUR ideas on how to spend money, you might want to re examine your thoughts. I think the SV650 is a great bike. Not everyone agrees with me.

What you described isn't a 450GP bike. It is a modified 450MX bike, chassis and all.

To be fair, he did suggest people could/should build their own custom chassis. I think he was using the MX chassis as examples of lower cost options for people who didn't have the fabrication skills.

That said, I'm with Beelzebub... if you like the idea, build your bike and go race. Who cares what other people will think/do?

That might be cool.

Seems unlikely there would be a spec class without the bike manufacturer being heavily involved in it though. And I can't see Honda cozying up to AMA right now unless AMA came to them cup in hand and offered a bunch of concessions in the other classes as well which also seems unlikely.

Recieved this in ama email blast. Sounds like honda 500 or kawi 300.

To complete the progressive class structure in 2015, AMA Pro Racing is investigating the potential of adding an entry-level division showcasing the smaller-displacement machines which are currently in large demand in showrooms across North America.

Wow, that's highly reasonable and sane of them... Are you sure it came from the AMA? :laughing

Lots of good stuff there. Getting AMA SBK closer to WSBK/National Superbike*** rules, combining SuperSport and SportBike and adding in a small bike class. I can't remember the last time I agreed with anything AMA/DMG did, but this is one.

*** I assume "National Superbike" they mean BSB/Canadian/Australian SBK? BSB rules overall have seemed to work really well.

that press release has caused me to change my wera board password and I have no idea what it is.
