Melinda Moore has been found.

Our friend if one knew her or not.

Rest In Peace.

Even though I've been away from the Bay Area for a few years now I still log on from time to time to keep up with my old rding buddies. The loss of Melinda had me logging on more often in hopes of finding some good news about her turning up okay. I'm deeply saddened that she couldn't find hope in her time of need, but if there was a good side of this situation I would have to say it's the motorcycle community that exists in the Bay Area. The concern and dedication to a fallen rider by the community is a very positive and refreshing thing to witness from my home many miles south. I would suggest everyone should take every opportunity to enjoy that community because it doesn't exist every where you ride and while we may find roads that endear our hearts they mean little if you can't share them with like minded people. Hopefully the concern demonstrated for Melinda can help us all appreciate that.

I just went up to 'The Wall' to update the flyer I places up there. I found in large red paint:

"Big Red

We will miss you!"

I think that says it all.

Damn.... that terrible..... my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends....

I wonder if the truth will ever be know as to whether this was really a suicide, or perhaps just an unfortunate and bizarre accident.

I'm sure Melinda's fiance, family, and friends will find peace easier if they could know for sure, one way or another. If Melinda did in fact take her own life, then there is a lesson to learn in trying to understand why. On the other hand, if instead she was just sitting on the edge of the road trying to clear her mind when some vehicle side swiped her, well, at least many people would not need to punish themselves with feelings of guilt.

Either way, I remain deeply saddened and touched by the loss of this person I've never even met.

I don't know what to say, Ive been sitting and crying (and drinking) since I was called last night with the news. There's so many things I wish I could have said to Red, and so many good memories I wish we could re-live together. I have to stop beating myself up for not calling her more often, or the fact that I drove that section of 1 and didn't see anything. The phrase "you will be missed" doesn't even begin to portray how I feel. It's more like a light in the world has been turned off. It's a much gloomier place to be without Melinda around. My heart goes out to Mark, and everyone else who loved her -- be strong...

Melinda -- Peace is with you and love follows!!

A very big heartfelt thanks to all for such a gallant effort in the search -- I wish that I could have made a contribution as fantastic as you all have :flag

From what I understand, when she left that Monday morning for school, she left her books behind. Along with her money, credit cards, and cell phone.

RIP, Big Red.

Anyone heard of a memorial for her yet? Someone told me there might be one tomorrow (Saturday), but I haven't been able to get that confirmed yet.

Peace be with you Melinda.

Every one called her Big Red.
But poor poor Melinda is dead.
Apparently she took her own life.
Due to some unknown strife.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

They say she jumped off and hit her head.
Why she did it was never really said.
She went on her motorbike.
Up where people usually hike.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

There are things we will never know.
Was she riding too fast or was it uh oh.
She went over the side.
They thought she just went for a ride.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

Some say she did it out of shame.
I read her fiancé is to blame.
It was an 800 foot cliff.
The biker community is in a riff.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

Couldn’t it have just been an accident?
Her tires could have slipped from the pavement.
Or a car might have swerved.
Knocked her from the curve.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

Everyone wondered where she could be.
The whole time she was lying under a tree.
Lots of people were talking.
More were out walkin.
And now poor poor Melinda is dead.

I wonder if she was really so sad?
I wonder if happiness could have been had?
All I can say.
Is take life day by day.
And hug those you love because you never know.

but even they cannot wash away the pain.

As someone that has been pulled back from the last split seconds of self inflicted death, the empty pit of darkness that lies beneath the sparkling surface cannot be fathomed from the outside.

My heart aches for the loved ones left behind.

Not very likely. Simply because the bike is at the VERY bottom. There would be debrie on the road etc. Which would alert the person who picked up the helmet. And so on...

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
