I already covered it, Six. They must stink at cheating, because they aren't beating anyone.
I'm sure that at some time, somebody's got away with something, but then again, they haven't gained much advantage from it. The bikes that consistently win are always checked, and as far as we are aware, they are all legal.

While I understand that Webb works for Dorna, did you read that link I posted? They are tracking data-logs, and even if someone is cheating, they are not gaining anything. As he points out, the guys winning, are not cheating because they get checked all the time. If the guy running 18th is cheating and still finishing 18th does anyone, besides the guy in 19th, care?

I did a while ago. Was very interesting. And that's kind of my point. The te h iCal guys found nothing. No one broke a rule. They used a different strategy and it worked out better. The status quo didn't work as well and caused some people to lose a tiny bit. And the technical inspectors have said no ones cheating. Doesn't matter if they actually did at that point.

Well, it just shows how these things can get twisted when posting. Sometimes I think the typing gets in the way of the message, or is it that quickshifter.

my spelling is due to MM's totally legal quickshifter

and not that it matters really, cause tis just practice, but those wsbk times atop the charts were set with superpole tires with the specifc intent of beating the motogp bikes.

kinda excited about that dirty frenchman on the other aprilia for next season, could throw a spanner in tommy and marco's fun

fucking rain on all the tests mang, dammit

So is a quick shifter illegal in MOTO2?
No. There were designated shifters, but no rule that said you couldn't use something else.

I bet you guys were absemt because of MM's totally awesome, .93 of a second per lap, ass-kicking, illegal quickshifter, too.

So is a quick shifter illegal in MOTO2?

"Quick-shifters are 'free' [not defined as a spec part in the regulations], they are deliberately not included in the official definition of the Moto2 engine, so the team is free to choose their own solution......."In fact no manipulation of ECU software is necessary in order to use a non-Honda quick-shifter, which may or may not use the fuel cut strategies available in the ECU." The quickshifter used by Marquez' team had been submitted for approval to the Technical Director, HRC and engine supplier Geo Tech for inspection at the beginning of the season

to answer your question...

I don't really understand what you mean. Or what the value to anyone would be.

A theory:

WSBK as the support race to motoGP.

No factory teams in GP, only WSBK where they make bikes to sell.

GP can use factory engines, thats it. Custom/prototype frames...

Kind of like that idea, except for the factory engines in GP (unless that was just one option)

He complained about the quick shifter as many other teams have. Fact is no one was caught cheating so no one was cheating as far as it's concerned. That is to the best of my knowledge besides the Ant West issue which was a person not the bike.

This is what I was getting at. 'No one was caught cheating' is a fact. 'No one was cheating' is your opinion. stating the second as fact is just plain incorrect.

But what about my second question: why would anyone want that?

Why wouldn't the factories put more effort into the 'production' racing? I'd rather see tuning shops and aftermarket companies running prototypes. Of course, I wouldn't want to see factory support leave moto2/3

I want .93 of a second!!! :shocker
I have got a spare Magic Marquez quickshifter just right for that twin. Please send $2500, or 6 sets of Pirelli DOT SC-2s to the address I p.m.ed you. Thanks for your interest, and tell your AFM friends. :thumbup

This is not possible, because there just isn't enough sponsorship to run without the factories. Let's be real. The major manufacturers have chosen between MotoGP or WSBK, because they just can't afford to do both. Yamaha doesn't even get a sponsor in MotoGP and they have a great record. There is no Suzuki. Ducati and Honda dropped support for all kinds of racing around the globe. Etc.

There isn't factory support in Moto2. The engine is a Honda leased by the teams. And the teams don't want a change, now, because they can't afford to be building new chassises for different motors.

It's expensive to go racing. And it's tough to find people to pay for motorcycle racing, in particular.

Yes. There is a constructor's championship. Honda won it this year. It has never been won by a privateer. Even when the tobacco companies were big into mc racing, the factory teams got most of the money. Rothmans-Honda, for example.

man this is some CRAZY talk, even for us :laughing
