Never Underestimate How Gay The Surveillance State Is.

Departments that are shorthanded benefit the most from FLOCK. Our Sheriff is talking about NO patrol during the night shift due to staff shortages, and not patrolling distant areas & just respond to calls that can't be handled by phone or are violent.
 
I am shocked to hear your dept is shorthanded.

Seems like everywhere I go the police force is rather well stocked and has all kinds of new expensive toys to play with.

Truckee PD just bought a fleet of brand new BMW mega Moto cop cruisers to park outside the high school and pull over kids for any variety of reasons.
My son's friend got pulled over for "being in the turning lane for too long"

We are much safer now.
 
Ya, I've lived long enough to see this happen. Like anything else there is pro and con to associate with it. The future is here, we must learn how to harness our new powers of surveillance.

This kind of technology has the potential to help, but it also has the potential for very restrictive societies.
Given human nature, I think the latter is the most likely end result.

TLDR; Red Light camera AI gives a ticket, but has to go through a private company to fight it and prove innocence. Meaning a private company has access to DMV/personal information not controlled by the gov privacy.

Be careful what and how hard we wish for things.

In this case, let's say we go too batshit and (as an example) Flocks come down countrywide. That leaves a big hole that needs filling and with Flock's sucess, they can simply pivot to cameras on private property. On sign poles, trees, commercial property, residential and office buildings, gas stations, etc. etc. Pay some modest fee to the tens of thousands of building owners/lessees and let 'er rip pointing in any/every direction as needed. That data is valuable and can then be sold to data collecting Marketers*, Private Eyes, any dude otr dudett with a credit card, but sorry- no popo allowed.

*Safeway as an example;
Hey, Safeway, its your marketing company calling. Yeah we noticed that guy that owns BARF website is visiting your store less. He recently goes more often to Draeger's Market and spends 27% more time there, coming out with 3 full carts (as opposed to the 1 or 2 he'd get from Safeway). See attached list of 1,837 other customers doing simliar changes. We'll send you a bill for the report. PS- he also stopped for an hour at BMW in San Jose, quite a drive from his Safeway store.

Cool thing about it is, you can start using these services once the databases get big enough to run it against someone's LinkedIn, Social Media Accounts, Credit history and Arrest Records and get a full profile on anyone you see walking around in public with your smart glasses on.

For 30 years I have been fucking telling people. Now that it is emerging, so many people are so surprised.
