NFL 2018/2019 Thread

Short term vs long term. NYG could be in Win-Now mode. Never know if the front office peeps have anything long term in mind, but winning a ring could earn them more time.

They are unsure. This is a new year with a new Front Office. Win Now was 2 years ago under McAdoo. Spent a ton on free agents, made a terrible coaching change, Got one Good season and one terrible nightmare season and flushed the whoel thing. Now we are essentially in a rebuilding mode, but not really willing to admit it since we still have our old great(ish) QB and some really hot talent on both sides of the ball, despite the fact that our fundamentals on both sides of the line are junk.

With one of the best Safeties, WRs, and TE's in the game on the roster with a proven Superbowl MVP QB, they aren't willing to admit that a full build is what we need. Kind of suffering in the middle on direction. I think this draft will define it.

even with that being said it's still kind of a no-brainer when you're this close to top-tier QB talent you take it

1. - Manning's age is a legit factor, 2-4 years tops with uncertain productivity
2. - scenario 1 you groom your top pick and insert him when Manning is done, profit from consistency, maturity, and being able to build around them
3. - scenario 2 you groom your top pick then sell high like NE did for years with all the almost-Brady-replacement QB's. the only outlier is Garrappolo and we all realize there was some shit going on with that one because they got offered two first rounders by CLE then sold low af to SF
4. - scenario 3 you take not-a-QB and in two years have to draft one with the 10th pick, or worse, a second rounder

like.... how is this confusing to the GM's....

Because after the apparently FALSE assault charges were filed, she also called the Police to report he had illegal weapons in his house, prompting search and seizure. Which, since CA Laws around possession of functional battle rifles are a blatant violation of our civil rights, she is supporting the fascist state. This falls in line with her attempts to use police intervention to destroy him and his career, as she has apparently proclaimed was her intention.

Evil.

So, the lawyer said that Stuff.

There’s like no way in your mind she got paid off? A day before the draft? Super suspicious.

Honestly I really want vita vea on the raiders. Call me a combine homer, al luddite whatever. That guy is scary and I want him bad

Cleveland screwed up big time. They could have got the lowest rated top tier QB at number four.

They should have picked Barkley at number one.

Bills turned 12, 22, 53, 56, and 65 into 7 and 16.

LOL wut

Raiders trade a 3rd rounder to Steelers for Martavis Bryant. I think it's a great trade since they had an extra from AZ

I'd give the Niners a "meh" and a Raiders a "WTF?" after the 1st round.

Apparently Niners took McGlinchy because Trent Brown is iffy after surgery and isn't in shape.

Raiders took a crap deal to trade back, spent one of those picks on an average-ish WR in Bryant, and took a weak lineman who I guess they expect Cable to coach up?

I have no idea why Raiders didn't run up to take Minkah

Getting a questionable o-lineman was purely a salary cap move to cover themselves next year when they'll owe penn like 12m. So they'll cut him and have a worse oline next year instead of improving the team this year and years to come.
Awful awful awful. They had vea, minkah, etc for the taking. Shit pick.

He hasn’t been happy in PIT for a while. He had too much competition for throws, but hey, that’s what happens when you have to sit out a year. You get replaced with people who can play.

Well. I guess it is time to see if Barkley lives up to the hype. The Giants are now 100% in WIN NOW mode. I simply do not see how they are going to build the defense into what they need it to be. The cash does not exist for free agents and you can't replace DRC and JPP on Defense with the picks they got. CB is a desperate need, so is G and C.

+1
Are the Gnatis gonna do anything about their Oline or just hope Barkley can put defenses on their heels all by himself?

That is kind of where I have been with it. I like Barkley to be the next Adrian Peterson, but our line was weak last year and it is even worse after free agency this year. Eli has never been shit without protection, and the best RB in the game will only change that so much. I guess your play action gets more effective, which is good for his arm being weaker than it used to be, but still, if a three hundo is dry humping your helmet 1.2 seconds after the snap, play action doesn't mean much.

Wow. No comments on the draft?

Y'all be slippin'

I have an excuse: I was in Hawaii and not giving a shit about the wider world
