I think Beatherd is like that guy in Lil Abner who has the dark cloud following him around. There was a lot of very good stuff that happened yesterday by the team but it was so overcome by the turnovers and injuries that it just felt snakebit.
Their opening drive showed they didn't want him to get pounded so every play was very quick release by QB. It just wasn't supposed to go that wrong, but they fell like a house of cards in the second half. Damn. And their opponent was so weak.... Ayayay.
I kept checking over on the Raiders hoping there was some good news. Uh, no.

exactly. this is now the 3rd time Gruden's failed on 4th down by not giving it to Lynch for a short gain. Beastmode was screaming in his helmet after the play.
Add another INT to Carr's league lead. What a way to repeatedly drag an emotionally shaky team down.
I didn't expect the Raiders to win. But I was expecting that they'd play competent football. That apparently, was way too much to ask for.

I like Carr a lot but is it time to move on from him? This team is a mess. The Gruden/Carr relationship seems way off. Maybe they need a fresh start or something.

I just don't know what the fuck happened to that guy? He was an unstoppable engine of destruction with Cooper until he got hurt? Did they change OC on him after that season where they were fit to take down the Pats?

Yes. Bill Musgrave was the OC and they decided not to keep him. They promoted Todd Downing which was a disaster. Now it's Greg Olsen. So Carr hasn't had the most stable environment.

I know we expect boobs-n-ice cream but the season didn't really start until this weekend's play, considering the level of exercise and hold-outs, etc etc. This is the recent NFL, where, despite pre-season, teams aren't really themselves until three or four games in.
I know people are frustrated but its no time to fire anybody. For me, as a Niners fan, I still really like Shanahan, but his system depends on at least competent players, not injury-wracked replacement schemes. Only so much he can do. To me, the most important goal for any NFL team is to emulate the Belichik system so you can plug in any player and make it work, as the Patriots have done with a plethora of receivers and backs on offense, at least. A great system makes the best of whatever ya got.
Chucky has had even less time to make this work. I know the Raiders seem even funkier but if you move pass the Mack trade, which caused so many problems, I think its too soon to give up on QB or coach. I am mystified by the last-minute error though....
