NFL 2018/2019 Thread

Too bad. Aaron Rodgers making McCarthy looking semi competent again.

Heartbreaker but I am not embarassed of my team, coach or QB. And I liked what Saleh was doing but his coverage guys just aren't good enough.
I just felt like the offense ran out of steam at the very end. That old cliché about "learning what's it like to win."

But they were always in it.

49ers looked competitive, they're on the right track. Mabin was getting abused though...

I think the guy has potential, but the jury is still out. Like Gruden, Shanahan has come into the league of head coaching without a resume.

Seriously?

he's 39 and he's been coaching in the NFL for fifteen years.

They should, and the hurry up and build a new park for the A’s and then demolish the sports complex in a massive explosion.

By that logic nobody could ever become a head coach, ever, because they didn't already have a job as a head coach -- and you simply said he had no resume, which is not true because as I said he's been coaching in the NFL for 15 years.

* you're

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here. that he had a non-head coaching resume? ok, great point...that still neither proves he's a great head coach nor that he's better than Gruden.

to repeat: like Gruden, Shanahan has come into head coaching by being touted as an offensive guru. The jury is still out on whether he will be a successful head coach. Gruden has a ring, so I'm not ready to say Shanahan is a better head coach.

*and, Missouri

Shanahan is great on offense. He's proving it with a back-up quarterback, lost for season rusher and extremely crisp and successful plays. Jeezus, they were doing really well last night. A touchdown in three plays at the start? Big fat gains. Fast release, everything. I think Shanahan is great.

He isn't a defense guru, or has allowed Saleh the run. But I anticipate some kind of change unless he feels, as many do, that its the talent he has, not the scheme. The announcer said Sherman was taking Adams near the end there. But he didn't when Adams lined up on the left. He sure as shit should have. That was catastrophic coverage breakdown and the receiver wasn't even especially tall. Yikes.

Shanahan has showed he is a great play caller on offense. Gruden did well with Gannon and won a SB with Dungy's players.
