NFL 2018/2019 Thread

That was some bizarre clock management by Shurmur...and then going for 2 down by 8?? Did he learn under Andy Reid?

Cooper has historically under performed. He's got wheels, but does not catch reliably. Let's not talk about how Carr can't throw a long pass even when Cooper outruns the defense.

Hard to believe Raiders got a number one pick for him. :wow

HOLY SHIT THE GIANTS ARE TRADING ELI

Eli Apple. To the Saints.

That's a bad sign. He was still on a rookie contract and performing like a starting DB. PFF had him as the 55th highest ranked CB in the league. With 64 Starting CB's, that isn't great, but you let a guy like that play out his rookie contract while you rebuild your terrible offense.

This forebodes the Giants going into Ground Up rebuild mode.

Mmmm....

Delicious.

Timing. Fire sale is on. And now for Giants, too? Hard to believe. I will add that Dallas' move is inexplicable. This ain't gonna save em either.

We'll know soon about Giants as the trade deadline is Oct. 30.

I got blistered by a few of you here a while back for comparing loyal Raiders fan to abused children with conflicted daddy issues about ol Al and the legacy in general.

But if the trade of Mack didn't convince you that they are trading away any possible success in Oakland for a revamped Las Vegas new Raiders in Gruden's control, the trade of Cooper should.

Being loyal to the Silver and Bleak, I just can't see it anymore. I was ultra pissed at Jeddie Bear and his winning with class while mangling great players (like Frank Gore) and playing pathetic mind games with corporate leaks and dishonorable behavior, but ol Jed has shrunk away. The Niners may stink right now, and boy do they, but I still think Shanahan and Lynch can make it work, while the Raider Nation only has more Mark Davis to look forward to in perpetuity and the glitzy mirage of Las Vegas glamor. It's like they exist to squander players, coaches, GMs everybody. Carr is supposedly ruined but that may be sportswriter hyperbole. Hell ODB looks ruined, too.

I can't imagine the Giants being in that similar a situation but it sure doesn't look good. To me, they have more bright spots but sure didn't show much last night. Their porous o-line, like SF, makes their QB look hopeless yet we know he is capable of good if not great play. It would be crazy to gamble away ODB and Barkley but if either goes, I guess it would be ODB because he's so temperamental. Trying to figure out what coach was saying to him last night in that little talk he was having. I kept thinking it was some kind of wait until Eli goes away or something....

There is just something weird going on in the NFL, that I think is tied to who can or cannot adapt to the new officiating. It seems like the losing-record teams have gotten more numerous and worse, or maybe I am just imagining it. But it's like there isn't much of a middle class. Jacksonville seems explainable because of the new rules but man, they are stinkin up the joint. Even tho Atlanta had the upper hand, they really aren't playing that great either. It should have been a slaughter. Arizona has always been a weird bet but they are lowly again.

My view may be distorted because we are in the Land of Losing here in BA, I freely admit. But when I look at NY Giants, and those two talents, and a former SuperBowl QB, it just doesn't add up. IF this is the era of offense, why ain't it happening there with those great offensive talents? That team is broke in a way I don't understand. I know they are on a young QB hunt but it still doesn't quite add up. Glad its not my decision of what to do with that franchise.

Broncos back up QB Chad Kelly arrested for criminal trespass, entering the wrong house....

He was dressed as a cowboy and got beaten with a vacuum cleaner tube.

Practical joke gone wrong?

So, I have been on here bitching about what a terrible GM Jerry Reese was for YEARS. Like, even when we got that last Superbowl. Cutting Flowers, Trading Apple, this looks like a cleaning house of the Reese legacy.

I think Evan Engram is probably safe due to his rookie contract but I would not be surprised if Odell Beckham and Olivier Vernon are both on the table. Both those guys are monster contracts that probably nobody wants to pay for though.

Sounds to me like Halloween Shenanigans gone sideways.

And they keep Barkley because he's on a rookie contract, too? I'm asking, I don't know.

I wonder who could handle Beckham....

Barkley stays for sure. He is the future. New Era Drafted by the new GM. He might be the only guy safe on the roster, but the plan for sure is to is to build the team around him. I think Engram is probably safe, Landon Collins for sure is not going anywhere. I hope Snacks isn't going anywhere, but he might be on the table.

If I say there were 2 guys we are not accepting trades for, it would be Collins and Barkley. The new Defense and Offense will be built around those guys. I think a deal could be cut for just about anybody else. Most the guys either have overpaid deals that nobody wants, or just aren't that good. Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard. Those are guys who would have to be made a sexy offer for, but I think a deal could probably be done if rebuild is the way we are going.

Man, that's crazy. I get that Barkley is a stud but what makes the Gnatis think he's going to last more than 5 solid seasons? Especially if he doesn't have shit in front of him to let him get his yardage without taking too much of a pounding? Is that enough time to get the right guys in on the line and gelled to the point that he is still a top production RB when they make a run at the title?

Yeah, that's how I feel too.

Well, I mean, the guy is a first year rookie, drafted by the new GM. Any franchise with a pedigree can usually right the ship in 3 years or so, so it should be no problem to have the team competitive again if they can hit on QB next year, to have him start in 2020. Tiki Barber pounded it every damn play for us for 9 Years in a harder hitting game and was fine. I like Quan better than Tiki for game. I think the new Guard Hernandez stays. I think he is real talent at Guard and a good building block for the new Line we are building.

Durability is always a question but most top top RB’s have their best year later. Adrian Peterson was all the Vikings had for YEARS and his best year was year 6. Leveon Bell seems to be getting might well into his stride going into year 6, except his ego got in the way. Lesean McCoy’s best years were years 5-6.

I mean, the Giants are struggling, but the team isn’t a total garbage fire. There is a wealth of talent there, far more so than any of the other bottom of the barrel teams right now. The Niners, Raiders, Colts, and Cards all have fewer big name talents on the roster, the Giants problem is more of a mental and emotional one than anything else. I think no question that this team and be deadly serious in a couple of years, maybe even next year with some of the right moves, but getting rid in Apple I think was a sign of a longer deeper build than the, “Win Now,” strategy they have been trying with Eli the last 2.

True, there is no leader, you got eli with 2 rings and they want barkley to be the team leader.... a rookie.... wow

But their oline hurts bad, worst then 9ers and raiders combined, i mean eli cant even drop back 2-3 steps before his line is pushed into him already. That starting left tackle getting paid like 65million kept letting the blindside slip..... that booker guy was fuck this guys payout - its not worth it!

That Barkley looks like the new age Beast mode.

+1
When a team with a defense as bad as ATL beats up on a team there’s some huge holes that need to be filled. Doesn’t seem like 2-3 year reset. More like a free fall where the coaching staff and FO are still looking for the bottom.

now NYG sending DT Damon Harrison to DET for a 5th..... it really is a fire sale lol
